We are seeking a highly motivated Floor Supervisor to oversee the daily operations on the daycare floor, ensuring that children receive the highest level of care and that the facility runs smoothly. As a Floor Supervisor, you will play a key role in leading and mentoring staff, managing operations, and ensuring that safety protocols are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and Lead Staff: Lead a team of childcare providers, guiding them on best practices, classroom management, and child safety protocols. Ensure staff are actively engaged with children and performing tasks effectively.
- Operational Oversight: Manage the day-to-day activities on the floor, ensuring that each classroom is running efficiently and that children are engaged in age-appropriate activities.
- Cover Breaks: Ensure continuous supervision and smooth operation of classrooms by covering staff breaks as needed. Coordinate with educators to manage coverage effectively, minimize disruption to children’s routines, and maintain required child-to-staff ratios at all times. Step into classrooms to support during staff absences, breaks, or transitions.
- Afternoon Shift Management: In the afternoon, manage the educators' schedules, ensuring that all staff are released on time for breaks, shift changes, and the end of their workday. Ensure smooth transitions between shifts and that all responsibilities are handed off appropriately.
- Cover Breaks:
- Staff Training & Development: Provide ongoing training and professional development for floor staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to provide high-quality care. Lead regular staff meetings to discuss updates, concerns, and best practices.
- Child Safety & Well-being: Monitor children’s behavior and well-being, ensuring that safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.



Act as the first point of contact for any safety concerns or emergencies on the floor.
- Maintain a Clean & Safe Environment: Ensure the daycare space is consistently clean, organized, and fully equipped for all activities. Conduct regular safety checks to ensure the facility is free of hazards.
- Compliance and Licensing: Ensure that the daycare is in compliance with all local regulations and licensing standards, including child-to-staff ratios, safety procedures, and health protocols. Prepare for and assist with inspections as needed.
- Emergency Response: Oversee emergency response protocols for fire drills, medical emergencies, or other situations. Take the lead in emergency evacuations and coordinate with other supervisors and management during critical situations.
- Scheduling and Staffing: Manage shift schedules for staff on the floor, ensuring that staffing levels meet the needs of the daycare. Address any staffing shortages or scheduling conflicts promptly.
- Report and Documentation: Maintain accurate records on daily activities, child attendance, incidents, and staff performance. Prepare reports as required for management and regulatory purposes

Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience is preferred but not required
- A level 3 Alberta Childcare Certificate is REQUIRED
- Ability to lead and support a team in a positive and professional manner
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
