Overview

Join our team as an Elementary School Bus Safety Presenter dedicated to promoting safe bus practices within the Peel Region. In this vital role, you will engage with elementary school students (grades JK-8) to educate them on safe behaviours around school buses, traffic, and pedestrian areas. Your energetic and explicit communication will help foster a culture of safety and awareness among young learners, ensuring they develop lifelong habits that keep them safe on their daily journeys.

Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging and informative safety presentations to elementary school students about bus safety, traffic rules, and pedestrian awareness
- Use age-appropriate language and interactive methods to capture students’ attention and reinforce safety messages
- Follow Presenter Schedule and arrive 1 hour prior to 1st presentation time at each school
- Have the equipment set up and tested a minimum of 20 minutes before presentation start time
- Have activity books ready to hand to teachers (Primary classes only)
- Greet classes at the door as they enter the presentation room and for Primary only - hand activity books to each classroom teacher
- Demonstrate proper bus safety procedures, including crossing rules, avoiding danger zones, and emergency protocols
- Maintain a positive and energetic demeanor to motivate students to adopt safe behaviors

Requirements





- Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with children of elementary school age
- Strong presentation skills with an energetic and engaging delivery style
- Ability to explain safety concepts clearly in English
- Ability to operate audio & visual equipment
- Ability to lift and transport 60+ pounds of heavy equipment daily, including up and down stairs
- Ability to dance and sing along to School Bus Safety song (Primary)
- Prior experience working with children or in educational settings is a plus but not mandatory
- Ability to stand, walk, or move around during presentations as needed
- A proactive attitude with enthusiasm for promoting community safety
- Ability to provide a Negative VSR (Police Vulnerable Sector Report)
- Must have a valid Driver's License (minimum G2)
- Must have your own insured reliable vehicle to transport half the equipment and box of books to school daily

Contract length: 3-4 months (approximately) - with a chance to move on to another contract Pay: $158.40 per day

Benefits

- Mileage reimbursement of $0.25/km to cover for gas and wear & tear. Mileage is calculated from your home to the morning school - to the afternoon school (if scheduled) - back to your home. We pay your mileage to go to work!!
