Canadian Erosion & Containment Ltd. (CEC) is looking for an experienced Equipment Operator / Lead Operator to join our growing team. We are seeking a versatile operator who can confidently run a wide range of construction equipment, cut grade to specification, place large retaining wall rock, maintain equipment, and lead crews on civil, environmental, and landscape construction projects throughout Alberta and Western Canada.

This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, equipment care, and getting projects completed safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

- Operate excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, packers, graders, and other heavy equipment.
- Cut and finish grade accurately using laser, GPS, and site plans.
- Place large boulders and armor stone for retaining wall construction.
- Construct retaining walls, drainage systems, and site development works.
- Perform rough and final grading.
- Load and unload equipment and materials.
- Conduct daily inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and report mechanical issues.
- Read drawings and understand site layouts and elevations.
- Assist with crew supervision and daily planning.
- Maintain safe work practices and ensure project quality standards are met.

Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of heavy equipment operating experience.
- Experience placing large retaining wall rock and armor stone.
- Ability to cut grade accurately and efficiently.




- Solid understanding of site servicing, grading, and earthworks.
- Experience with retaining walls, landscaping, civil construction, and erosion control projects.
- Valid driver's license (Class 1 or Class 3 considered an asset).
- Mechanical aptitude and equipment maintenance experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
