Division of Medical Sciences

Full-Time, Probationary The Division of Medical Sciences and the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), in conjunction with UBC’s Northern Medical Program (NMP), invites applications for a probationary position in the Northern Medical Program at the rank of Senior Instructor, with a proposed starting date of January 4, 2027. After three (3) years, the successful applicant will have the chance to apply for a continuing appointment and promotion. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Division of Medical Sciences, who will provide ongoing direction of duties and responsibilities, the Senior Instructor will teach Basic Science and Laboratory components in Years I and II of the undergraduate medical and health professions curriculum. The successful candidate will interact regularly with NMP and health professional students, staff and faculty, as well as faculty and staff of partnership institutions, UVIC, UBC, and UBCO.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Tutoring in case-based learning sessions of the medical curriculum;
- Assisting in small group sessions in the MEDD component of medical curriculum;
- Assisting in preparation and examinations of medical and health professions students.
- Delivering province wide lectures synchronously (in person and via video conference) to all sites of the UBC MD Undergraduate Program

Applicants for this position should hold a PhD or MD (or equivalent), however the minimum educational requirements are a MSc with appropriate training in Physiology, Pharmacology and Anatomy. A minimum of three years’ related experience is required. Salary The salary for this position will be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant qualifications and experience as per the UNBC Faculty Association Collective Agreement.
