PrimeNSC is looking for an Intermediate to Experienced Fiber Splicer to join our field team.

This is a hands-on position focused on installing, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fiber-optic networks and associated telecommunications infrastructure.

Frequent travel is a core requirement of this position. Applicants must be willing and able to travel for work, including driving, flights, overnight stays, and extended project assignments when required.

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently or as part of a field team.

Responsibilities

- Perform fusion splicing on single-mode and multimode fiber
- Install and splice fiber-optic cables, closures, panels, trays, terminals, and related components
- Prepare cables, organize buffer tubes, route fibers, and manage splice trays
- Perform mid-span and end-of-line splicing
- Test fiber using OTDRs, optical power meters, light sources, and visual fault locators
- Interpret OTDR traces and identify faults, excessive loss, breaks, bends, and connection issues
- Troubleshoot and repair damaged or underperforming fiber links
- Complete fiber characterization, continuity testing, and end-to-end verification
- Read and interpret splice diagrams, network drawings, fiber assignments, and project documentation
- Complete accurate splice records, test reports, redlines, and closeout documentation
- Perform work in telecommunications facilities, equipment rooms, outdoor cabinets, vaults, and field locations
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, equipment, and fiber-management systems
- Communicate effectively with project managers, customers, site contacts, and other technicians

Qualifications

- Previous hands-on experience with fiber-optic installation, fusion splicing, testing, and troubleshooting
- Intermediate to experienced technician-level knowledge
- Experience with single-mode and multimode fiber
- Proficiency with fusion splicers, cleavers, OTDRs, optical power meters, and related test equipment
- Ability to interpret OTDR results, splice diagrams, fiber assignments, and technical documentation
- Experience with fiber closures, splice trays, patch panels, connectors, and cable preparation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to produce accurate test results and project documentation
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned work
- Valid driver’s licence
- Must be willing and able to travel frequently for work

Experience with telecom, outside plant, inside plant, data-centre, broadband, or critical-infrastructure fiber projects is preferred. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate understands that field work requires flexibility, accountability, careful documentation, quality workmanship, and frequent travel.

You should be comfortable arriving at a project site, reviewing the scope and fiber assignments, preparing and splicing cables, testing completed links, resolving deficiencies, and completing the required documentation to a skilled standard.

Candidates with relevant telecom, outside-plant, inside-plant, broadband, data-centre, or critical-infrastructure fiber experience are encouraged to apply.

Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
