Savanna Drilling Canada is searching for a Field Superintendent to join our team.

The Drilling Field

Superintendent is responsible for the overall operations, crews and equipment of assigned areas and/or drilling rigs.

The Drilling Field

Superintendent ensures safety, efficiency and operational compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements for their assigned rig. This role requires strong leadership, extensive knowledge of drilling operations and the ability to effectively manage personnel and resources.

This position is Full-Time, Permanent and based out of our Leduc, AB office.

Summary of Duties (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following):

Operations Management

- Direct and supervise Rig Managers, ensuring operational adherence to established policies, procedures, schedules and safety protocols. Ensuring operations are performed within industry recommended best practices and directives, and ensuring legislative requirements are followed.
- Monitor and manage the overall progress of the drilling program, including efficiency and performance of the drilling rig equipment and operational costs. Identify issues and recommend improvements when required.
- Schedule and perform regular drilling rig visits and inspections of assigned drilling rigs (60%-80% travel required).
- Represent Savanna at operator-initiated field safety meetings, stand downs and pre-spuds as required.
- Serve as the primary liaison for escalated customer issues and/or complaints,



providing timely and effective solutions.
- Collaborate with the Savanna Maintenance Team to ensure proper maintenance and function of drilling equipment, coordinating repairs and replacements as necessary.
- Assist rig with management of equipment, supplies and materials required for drilling operations. Ensuring adequate replacement or spare rig equipment is available as required (crew trucks, tubulars, flights, BOP’s, etc.).

- Assist rig with planning and coordinating rig moves, including the arrangement of trucking and county permits.

Safety and Compliance
- Promote the alignment of Operations and HSE objectives and ensure that Rig Managers and the crew are adhering to all HSE policies, procedures and programs.
- Work in coordination with the Savanna HSE department to ensure all procedures are followed, safety requirements are adhered to at each rig, and any deficiencies are corrected.
- In coordination with Savanna HSE, investigate any incidents or accidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Personnel Management
- Supervise and support Rig Managers, providing guidance and direction when addressing any questions, concerns or requests for assistance.
- Assist Rig Managers in effective management of personnel, ensuring timely and effective conflict resolution, and/or employee performance improvements.
- Establish performance expectations and goals with Rig Manager.

Conduct regular performance evaluations, training and development with direct reports.

- Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and communication.

Reporting & Documentation
- Approve PO’s, invoices, and want list requisition forms for assigned rigs.




- Monitor all rig equipment for recertification and schedule as required.
- Prepare and present operational reports to management, highlighting key metrics and any issues.
- Ensure all documentation is completed and filed in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Strong communication skills including listening, informing and following up with others as well as preparing written communication in the form of reports, memos etc.;
- Effective organizational skills and the ability to manage a multiple activities and resources to achieve results;
- Proven supervisory and management skills, including a demonstrated empathy for others and the managerial courage to address issues quickly and effectively;

- Strong technical skills and aptitude in the areas of hydraulics, electrical and mechanical systems;
- Demonstrates good business acumen - understands how the business works and the factors that impact its profitability and success;
- Ability to work well with others as well as independently;
- Ability to be out in the field on a regular basis (60%-80% weekly travel required), be on-call, work weekends and overtime.

Education and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent;
- At least 10 years oilfield industry experience;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Valid, related certifications such as H2S Alive, First Aid, Blow-out Prevention.
