POSITION: Financial Services Officer (FSO) - Sales and Service

DEPARTMENT: Lending / Member Services

REPORTS TO: Manager of Financial Services

SALARY BAND: CU 3 – Range from $57,726.05 to $67,913.00

Position Summary:

We are currently accepting applications for the position of Financial Services Officer (FSO) - Sales and Service.

Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, the incumbent possesses a thorough knowledge of credit union products and services, including investments such as RRSPs, GICs and TFSAs; lending products such as loans, mortgages and lines of credit; and credit union personal and business accounts and packages.

The FSO Sales and Service works with existing and prospective members to understand their financial needs, recommend appropriate solutions and provide knowledgeable, accurate and responsive service.

Member Needs Assessment and Advice; Consumer and Mortgage Lending; Deposit and Investment Services; Sales and Relationship Development; Documentation and Regulatory Compliance; Member Outreach and Community Participation

Specific Accountabilities:

- Conducts interviews with existing and prospective members, either in person or through digital channels. Gathers the personal information necessary to develop a thorough understanding of each member’s or prospective member’s needs and matches those needs with appropriate credit union products and services.
- For lending requests, analyzes the applicant’s financial status, credit and property evaluation to determine the most appropriate product or products. Prepares the credit information required to establish a credit limit, including assets, credit experience, personal references, debt-to-income ratio, credit score and other underwriting information, in accordance with established policies and procedures.




- Prepares document packages and negotiates loan structure, including rates, repayment terms and security details. Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate, approval is obtained from the appropriate authority level, regulatory requirements are met, and security is in place before funds are disbursed. Ensures timely loan closing and disbursement.
- Provides advice and recommendations on deposit products best suited to members’ needs. Makes referrals to credit union partners for products not available through CBCU and accurately completes all associated documentation.
- Prepares investment documentation for new investments, renewals, redemptions and transfers, including TFSAs, GICs, RRSPs and RRIFs.
- Proactively contacts members regarding maturing deposits and explains the options available.
- Participates in sales and service campaigns, direct-mail follow-up and community events.
- Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Hiring Qualifications and Experience: The successful candidate will demonstrate strong member-service and relationship-building abilities, along with the knowledge and judgement required to discuss credit union deposit, investment and lending products. Previous experience in financial services, lending, investments, sales or a related member-service environment would be considered an asset.

- Knowledge of credit union products and services,

- Knowledge of lending products, including loans, mortgages and lines of credit
- Knowledge of investment products, including RRSPs, RRIFs, GICs and TFSAs
- Ability to assess member needs and recommend suitable financial solutions
- Ability to review financial and credit information in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Accurate completion of lending, deposit and investment documentation
- Excellent computer skills
