Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fleet Safety & Compliance Manager to oversee the safety, regulatory compliance, driver qualification, and fleet documentation for our container drayage trucking operation.

This position will play an important role in ensuring our drivers, trucks, chassis, and operations remain compliant with all applicable provincial and federal transportation requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with drivers, dispatch, maintenance, management, insurance providers, and regulatory authorities.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

- Ensure compliance with all applicable provincial and federal transportation regulations, including CVSE, National Safety Code (NSC), WorkSafeBC, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Monitor company compliance with hours-of-service, driver documentation, vehicle inspection, maintenance, and safety requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date compliance records and documentation for the fleet and drivers.
- Act as the primary point of contact with the BC Trucking Commissioner’s Office and other applicable regulatory authorities.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and identify areas requiring corrective action or improvement.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Driver Recruitment & Qualification

- Coordinate the hiring and onboarding of Class 1 commercial drivers.
- Conduct driver screening, reference checks, licence verification, and qualification reviews.




- Maintain accurate and up-to-date driver qualification files, including licences, medical documentation, training records, abstracts, and other required compliance documentation.
- Ensure new drivers receive proper orientation and training on company policies, safety procedures, documentation, and regulatory requirements.

Driver Training & Safety

- Train and coach drivers on logbooks/records of duty status, vehicle inspection requirements, company procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, driver coaching, and safety communications.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, complaints, and safety violations and prepare appropriate documentation.
- Work with management on corrective actions and disciplinary matters related to safety or policy violations.
- Identify recurring safety issues and recommend preventative measures and improvements.

Fleet, Insurance & Maintenance Compliance

- Coordinate with ICBC and insurance providers to ensure insurance coverage for trucks, chassis, and other fleet assets remains current.
- Maintain records of insurance policies, renewals, claims, and fleet-related incidents.
- Track and maintain truck and trailer/chassis maintenance records.
- Ensure monthly and quarterly maintenance requirements are completed and properly documented.
- Monitor licence, registration, inspection, and other fleet-related renewals and documentation.
- Maintain an organized system for tracking compliance deadlines and required documentation.

Safety Equipment & Documentation

- Maintain an accurate inventory of regulated documents and safety equipment, including Bills of Lading, logbooks, PPE, first aid kits, and other required materials.




- Ensure required safety documentation and equipment are available and properly maintained in vehicles and at the workplace.
- Manage electronic and physical filing systems to ensure records are accurate, current, and readily accessible.

What We're Looking For

- Post-secondary education, diploma, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in fleet safety, transportation compliance, trucking operations, or a similar role.
- Knowledge of BC transportation regulations, CVSE, NSC, WorkSafeBC, and commercial trucking compliance requirements.
- Experience working with commercial drivers and Class 1 licence requirements.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Solid interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and investigative skills.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with management, drivers, dispatch, and maintenance teams.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and contribute as a team player.
- Punjabi is an asset but not required.

What You'll Bring to the Role

· The ideal candidate is someone who is organized, proactive, firm but fair, and highly attentive to detail. You should be comfortable dealing with drivers and management, following up on compliance requirements, investigating incidents, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring safety standards are consistently followed.

Experience in container drayage, port operations, or a trucking/fleet environment is considered an asset.

Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
