Join a dynamic beverage manufacturer as a freelance packaging production designer and prepress specialist, supporting the internal team with the technical preparation of label artwork for commercial printing. The role focuses on adapting and finalizing beverage label files in Adobe Illustrator, ensuring all printer specifications are met for a variety of juice, smoothie, sparkling beverage, and private-label product lines. Creative direction and designs are already established, so the primary responsibility is to deliver reliable, production-ready files for ongoing projects with multiple retail partners across Canada and the U.S.

Deliverables

- Prepare 40–50 beverage label files for commercial printing, following detailed printer specifications.
- Adapt existing artwork and dielines as needed for different product formats and customers.
- Apply Pantone spot colours, trapping, pullbacks, overprint settings, and manage varnish and foil layers.
- Ensure accurate placement and formatting of barcodes and regulatory information.
- Generate final print-ready PDFs, ensuring all technical requirements are met for food and beverage packaging.
- Maintain consistent file organization and version control for ongoing projects.

Requirements





- Proven experience in packaging production design and prepress, ideally within the food and beverage sector.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and familiarity with commercial print workflows.
- Solid understanding of Pantone color management, trapping, overprint, dielines, varnish, and foil layers.
- Experience preparing files for commercial printers, including knowledge of print-ready PDF standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow established creative direction.
- Reliable availability for ongoing freelance work and ability to meet tight turnaround times.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate remotely with internal teams.
- Based in North America preferred, with knowledge of Canadian and U.S. packaging standards.
