We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Custom Seamstress to produce high-quality, on-demand decorative pillow covers. In this role, you will be responsible for creating tailored cushion covers according to provided dimensions and fabric specifications. All fabric, thread, zippers etc. will be supplied.

The ideal candidate must operate their own fully equipped home studio and have reliable daily transportation to manage same-day or next-day order pickups and drop-offs on McArthur Avenue.

Compensation: Paid per finished pillow cover (Piece-Rate)

Key Responsibilities

On-Demand Fabrication: Construct decorative pillow covers (zippered, envelope style, flanged, piped, etc.) based on custom client specifications and exact dimensions.

Fabric Handling: Safely cut, measure, and handle a variety of textiles (canvas, velvet, linen, jacquard, leather/vinyl, sensitive delicate fabrics).

Quality Assurance: Inspect all raw materials for flaws and ensure all finished products feature straight, reinforced seams, hidden zipper closures, and clean thread trims.

Turnaround Management: Maintain fast, consistent production times to meet on-demand customer deadlines.

Required Equipment & Setup

You must possess and maintain your own professional-grade or heavy-duty home sewing equipment:

- Heavy-Duty or Industrial Sewing Machine: Must handle thick interior décor fabrics, piping, and multiple layers effortlessly.
- Serger / Overlock Machine: Required to finish all raw edges inside pillow covers to prevent fraying and ensure durability.
- Zipper & Cording Foot Attachments:



Essential for sewing standard zippers, invisible zippers, and custom piping/welting cord.
- Fabric Cutting Tools: High-quality fabric shears, rotary cutter, self-healing cutting mat, and acrylic rulers for precise right-angle cuts.
- Pressing Station: Heavy-duty steam iron and pressing board to ensure crisp corners, flat seams, and a professional finish.
- Basic Sewing Notions & Tools: Thread snippers, seam ripper, measuring tape, fabric chalk/washable markers, pins, and upholstery clips.

Qualifications & Requirements Proven Sewing Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience in upholstery, soft home furnishings, or custom garment construction (portfolio or work samples required).

High Attention to Detail: Exact measurement skills, accurate pattern-matching (stripes, florals, geometric prints), and flawless seam construction.

Time Management: Able to work independently, manage shifting daily workloads, and hit tight turnaround deadlines.

Communication: Prompt and clear communication regarding material needs, order status, and timing.
