Overview

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and experienced Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) to join our team! The successful candidate will support the daily care, learning, and development of young children in a safe, nurturing, and engaging childcare environment.

This position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a licensed childcare setting. We are seeking someone who is dependable, qualified, patient, and passionate about working with young children.

Responsibilities

- Assist RECEs with planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Support children throughout daily routines, including meals, rest time, toileting, transitions, and outdoor play
- Engage children through play, storytelling, music, art and hands-on learning experiences
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
- Observe children's development, interests, behaviours, and individual needs and communicate observations with the classroom team
- Provide nurturing and responsive care while encouraging children's independence and confidence
- Support children with diverse developmental needs and promote an inclusive environment where every child can participate
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with children, families, and team members
- Follow all centre policies, health and safety procedures, and Ministry of Education requirements




- Work collaboratively with RECEs and other staff members to provide consistent, high-quality care

Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in a licensed childcare setting is required
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children
- Strong understanding of child development and early childhood education practices
- Experience supporting children with diverse developmental needs is an asset
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Patient, caring, dependable, and professional
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced childcare environment
- Strong understanding of health, safety, hygiene, and supervision practices
- Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Current First Aid/CPR-C certification is required
- Vulnerable Sector Check and required immunization/health documentation will be required
