Full-time Settlement Youth and Family Worker

We are looking for a full-time Settlement Youth and Family Worker who provides settlement, resettlement, and integration services to eligible immigrant and refugee children, youth, and families. The position conducts client needs assessments, provides information and orientation, and facilitates referrals and connections to appropriate ICA programs, community services, and resources.

The position develops, coordinates, and facilitates age-appropriate group programs, workshops, and activities for children and youth, while providing individualized support and follow-up based on client needs. This role maintains effective working relationships with community service providers and other interest-holders to support coordinated access to services and resources.

The position also provides culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and inclusive support, promotes awareness of children’s rights and social justice issues, and contributes to the planning, implementation, and continuous delivery of settlement and integration services. This is a hands-on and physically active and demanding position. Reports to the Youth, Family and School Connections Coordinator.

What you will bring to the role:

- Post-secondary diploma related to settlement/resettlement, family law, immigration and refugee studies, social work, intercultural studies, or child and youth care.
- Solid understanding of diversity, equity,



and inclusion principles and demonstrated experience working with clients from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, linguistic, and migration backgrounds on settlement and resettlement-related matters.
- Two years of work experience in social services, nonprofit, and/or multicultural environments.
- Knowledge of community services, resources, and referral pathways.
- Experience working with children and youth in a variety of settings, including nature-based, sport, and art programs.
- Essential skills:

o Internet research and navigation o Demonstrable use of MS Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint and any other productivity software that supports the automation of processes and workflows.

o Basic graphic design (create posters and social media posts)

o Social media management (understanding of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter)

o Basic project management and team communication tools (Google Drive, MS Teams, One Drive, Zoom)

o Database management (iCare, CRM, OCMS, CARMIS)

o Understanding of best practices of cybersecurity for data protection, phishing prevention, and secure system use.

o Basic knowledge of artificial intelligence technology and cloud computing o Problem solving techniques

Additional assets we value:

- Undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Care or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with immigrants and refugees, and knowledge of immigration issues, are assets.
- Proficiency in a settlement/resettlement language is an asset.
- Indigenous cultural competencies and/or lived experience with Indigenous communities are welcomed.

Contract End Date: March 31, 2027

Compensation and hours: This position starts at $28.16 per hour, working a maximum of 35 hours per week, and requires union membership.
