Furell Inc. is a member of Liuna Local 183 and is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious and hardworking General Labourers & Equipment Operators to join our construction team. This position will support the construction and installation of noise attenuation barriers, retaining structures and related site work.

The successful candidates will work as part of a construction crew performing general labour, site preparation, material handling, equipment operation, installation and cleanup. The position requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, operate construction equipment safely and efficiently, and work effectively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

General Labourer

- Assist with the construction and installation of noise barrier and retaining wall systems.
- Assist with site preparation, excavation, grading and general site maintenance.
- Remove existing fences, barriers, materials and other structures as required.
- Assist with installation of footings, posts, post cladding, panels and related components.
- Assist with installation of wood, PVC, absorptive, reflective and other noise barrier systems.
- Assist with retaining wall and earth-retaining system construction.
- Load, unload, move and organize construction materials, tools and equipment.
- Perform manual excavation, shovelling, raking, grading and other physical labour as required.
- Assist operators, forepersons and other crew members with daily construction activities.
- Use hand and power tools safely and properly.
- Measure, mark and prepare work areas according to project requirements.
- Maintain clean, organized and protected work areas.
- Assist with traffic control, pedestrian control and protection of the work area when required.
- Perform site cleanup and removal of construction debris.
- Complete other construction-related duties as directed by the Foreperson or Supervisor.





Equipment Operator

- Safely operate construction equipment appropriate to training, experience and authorization.
- Operate equipment for excavation, grading, material handling, backfilling and site preparation.
- Perform daily pre-use inspections of equipment and report any defects, damage or maintenance requirements.
- Operate equipment in accordance with manufacturer requirements and company procedures.
- Assist with loading, unloading and positioning of materials.
- Maintain proper awareness of workers, vehicles, structures, utilities and other hazards while operating equipment.
- Ensure equipment is parked, secured and shut down properly when not in use.
- Keep equipment clean and report maintenance or repair requirements promptly.
- Work with ground personnel and spotters to safely maneuver equipment in confined or active construction areas.

Depending on experience, training and company authorization, equipment may include:
- Excavators
- Cranes
- Drills
- Skid steers
- Mini excavators
- Telehandlers
- Forklifts
- Other construction equipment and attachments

Qualifications & Experience

- Previous construction, general labour or equipment operating experience is considered an asset.
- Previous noise wall installation experience is considered an asset.
- Experience operating excavators, skid steers, cranes, drills or other construction equipment is an asset.
- Valid driver’s licence is an asset.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a construction crew.
- Strong awareness of workplace safety.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently while meeting project schedules.

Pay: $38.39-$47.93 per hour Expected hours: 50.0 per week
