Indoor Season Goalkeeper Coaching Opportunity

Calgary West Football Club is seeking an experienced Goalkeeper Coach for the upcoming indoor season to support goalkeeper development across our performance programs.

The Goalkeeper Coach will be responsible for planning and delivering goalkeeper-specific training, supporting the individual development of each goalkeeper, and working collaboratively with team coaches to ensure goalkeeper development is integrated into the Club’s wider playing and coaching framework.

We are looking for a development-minded coach who understands the modern goalkeeper position and is passionate about long-term player development, age-appropriate coaching, and creating positive learning environments.

Minimum and preferred qualifications

- Canada Soccer Goalkeeper Coach qualifications, C License, B License, or equivalent foreign qualifications preferred.
- Previous experience coaching goalkeepers.
- Strong understanding of modern goalkeeper development, including technical, tactical, physical, and psychological demands.
- Relevant academic qualifications in coaching, sport science, physical education, or a related field are considered an asset.
- Ability to complete all required background screening and Safe Sport requirements.

Coaching expectations
- Plan and deliver structured, progressive, and age-appropriate goalkeeper training.
- Develop goalkeeper-specific technical skills, including handling, footwork, positioning, shot-stopping, dealing with crosses, distribution, and 1v1 situations.
- Develop goalkeepers as active participants in possession and support their understanding of the goalkeeper's role within the team's playing principles.
- Create realistic,



game-based training environments that connect goalkeeper development to match situations.
- Work collaboratively with team coaches to integrate goalkeepers into team training where appropriate.
- Observe and evaluate goalkeeper development throughout the season.
- Record player observations, feedback, and development goals through PlayMetrics.
- Provide individual feedback and development objectives to goalkeepers.
- Support goalkeeper identification and player placement where required.
- Communicate professionally with players, families, team coaches, and Club staff.
- Participate in Club coaching clinics, technical meetings, and ongoing career development.
- Maintain high standards of professional conduct, player welfare, and Safe Sport.

Season information
- The indoor season runs from October to March.
- Training takes place primarily in northwest Calgary.
- The position will involve working across multiple age groups and training environments.
- Some evening and weekend availability will be required.
- Additional opportunities may be available beyond the indoor season.
