Group Purchasing & Sourcing Manager

About the Position

We are a Saskatchewan-based group of companies operating multiple restaurants, pubs, distribution and other businesses throughout Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw.

We are looking for a Group Purchasing & Sourcing Manager who genuinely enjoys finding better deals, negotiating with suppliers, analyzing numbers and figuring out smarter ways to buy things.

This is not a traditional corporate procurement position and it is not primarily an order-entry or administrative role.

We want someone who looks at what we're buying and asks:

Why are we paying this much?

Why is one location paying more than another?

Can we negotiate a better deal using our combined volume?

Is there a better supplier or product available?

Can we source this directly from the manufacturer?

Could one of our preferred distribution partners supply this more effectively?

What You'll Do

You'll oversee purchasing and sourcing opportunities across a diverse group of Saskatchewan businesses.

Your responsibilities will include

- Monitor supplier and vendor pricing across multiple businesses and locations.
- Compare what different locations are paying for identical or similar products & services.
- Identify unnecessary costs and purchasing inconsistencies.
- Negotiate pricing, volume discounts, rebates and improved terms with suppliers.
- Review invoices and purchasing data to ensure negotiated pricing is actually being received.
- Source alternative products and suppliers when better opportunities exist.
- Work directly with manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors in Canada, the U.S. and internationally.
- Obtain samples, quotes and product information for current sourcing projects.
- Compare total landed costs including product cost, freight, minimum orders and other charges.
- Consolidate purchasing volume where it creates better buying power.
- Develop and maintain a centralized purchasing and pricing database.
- Review periodic inventories submitted by our locations for pricing accuracy and unusual discrepancies.




- Identify products currently being purchased externally that could potentially be sourced more effectively through our preferred distribution channels.
- Assist with sourcing larger purchases such as restaurant equipment, furniture, smallwares and other operating requirements.
- Review selected recurring business expenses and supplier contracts for opportunities to reduce costs.
- Provide Ownership with concise recommendations and measurable results.

What This Job Is NOT You will not be responsible for physically counting monthly inventories.

You will not be processing accounts payable or entering invoices all day.

Our managers and existing teams continue to handle normal day-to-day operations.

Your job is to step back, analyze what we're buying, find opportunities and improve the way we purchase.

The Type of Person We're Looking For

We're less concerned about a specific degree or designation and more interested in finding someone with the right combination of commercial instincts, analytical ability and persistence.

You may have experience in:

- Purchasing or procurement
- Foodservice distribution
- Restaurant or hospitality operations
- Wholesale distribution
- Supply chain
- Inventory or cost control
- Vendor or manufacturer sales
- Product sourcing
- Category management

You should be:
- Very comfortable working with numbers and spreadsheets.
- Strong with Excel or similar software.
- Naturally curious about pricing and costs.
- A confident negotiator.
- Extremely organized.
- Comfortable challenging existing purchasing practices.
- Persistent when researching products and suppliers.
- Comfortable picking up the phone and negotiating directly with vendors.
- Able to manage multiple sourcing projects at the same time.
- Capable of comparing price, quality, yield, freight, service and reliability rather than simply choosing the cheapest option.
- Comfortable presenting recommendations directly to Ownership.

Formal procurement certification is an asset,



but not required. How Success Will Be Measured

This is a results-oriented position.

We want to be able to measure the value you create through things such as:

- Verified purchasing savings
- Improved supplier pricing
- Successful supplier negotiations
- Recovered credits and rebates
- Reduced pricing discrepancies between locations
- Improved inventory pricing accuracy
- Purchasing consolidation
- Successful product sourcing projects
- Increased utilization of preferred distribution channels where financially advantageous
- Improvements in purchasing efficiency

We don't want reports simply for the sake of creating reports. We want measurable improvements and actionable information.

Compensation

Base Salary: Up to $75,000 per year

As part of their salary the successful candidate will be eligible for a performance-based bonus tied to measurable results and value created for the organization.

Compensation within the range will depend on experience and demonstrated ability.

Location & Travel

This position may be based in either Regina or Saskatoon.

Our businesses operate throughout Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw, so periodic travel between locations will be required.

A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are required.

Why This Position Is Different

You'll have the opportunity to work directly with Ownership and have considerable freedom to investigate opportunities, contact suppliers, negotiate pricing and recommend changes.

One week you might discover that several locations are paying different prices for the same product.

The next week you might negotiate a group-wide supplier agreement.

Another project might involve sourcing a specialty food product directly from a manufacturer overseas.

Another might involve determining whether something we're purchasing from a national distributor could be sourced more economically through one of our preferred distribution channels.

We operate multiple businesses and purchase a lot of products and services.

We believe there are significant opportunities to buy smarter.

We're looking for the person who wants to find them.

Pay: $61,648.40-$75,000.00 per year
