Qualifications

- Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma Requirements:
- Support students' growth in the areas of cognition, communication, physical and social development
- Support and/or implement teacher directed programming
- Work collaborative under guidance of teacher, CST and other member of the multi-disciplinary team
- Implement specialist (OT, PT, SLP, etc) strategies to achieve required goals
- Able to work with student to implement and support literacy/numeracy
- Toileting routines if required
- Communicate effectively with students using age appropriate positive reinforcements and/or school specific behaviour strategies
- Work and play at student's physical level of their activities




- Swim program, if required
- Physically handle and transfer students when unsafe
- Physical ability to lift and move students
- Provide school directed indoor and outdoor student supervision Employee is expected to work with behaviours related/associated with conduct, obsessive/compulsive, trauma and stress related, severe chronic depressive, feeding and/or eating disorders etc. Other behaviours related to ADHD, emotional/behavioural, learning and speech & language-related disabilities, etc may be encountered. The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail, Internet and MS Office.
