GVP, Strategic Finance Product

About the Role

The GVP, Strategic Finance Product will serve as the senior financial partner to the President/COO/Chief Product Officer and the Product organization. The role owns financial planning, forecasting, cost management, capital allocation, infrastructure economics, and decision support for engineering and related technology functions. Reporting to the SVP, Global Strategic Finance, this leader will manage a global FP&A; organization and provide financial visibility and strategic insight to senior leadership. The role will help engineering leaders evaluate tradeoffs among delivery speed, quality, scale, cost, growth, and profitability. The position will also establish the organizational structure, systems, and processes needed to scale Product FP&A; over the next five years while supporting major investments and long-term business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

- Partner with the President/COO/Chief Product Officer, CFO, SVP of Global Strategic Finance, and senior Product leadership.
- Lead a global FP&A; team, including recruitment, development, performance management, and succession planning.
- Own the Product organization’s annual planning process across revenue, operating expenditure, and capital expenditure.
- Lead strategic planning, quarterly reforecasting, scenario modeling, and recurring financial review meetings.
- Oversee financial management for the Product organization, including capital allocation, infrastructure economics, and open management.
- Evaluate product proposals, technology investments, and other strategic initiatives through ad hoc analysis.
- Identify and communicate performance risks, opportunities, and business trends.
- Find cost optimization opportunities while protecting delivery quality and engineering velocity.
- Prepare decision-ready analysis for executives, clearly outlining tradeoffs, risks, and recommended actions.
- Build cross-functional relationships with Corporate Strategy, Corporate Development, Line of Business Strategic Finance, Corporate Strategic Finance, and Finance leadership.
- Develop executive presentations and materials.
- Define the future FP&A; organization, systems,



and processes required to support significant company growth.

Required Skills

- 15+ years of finance experience.
- Experience leading strategic planning, forecasting, financial analysis, and investment decision support.
- Experience managing large, high-performing teams, including at least five years in a people-management capacity.
- Ability to recruit, develop, and retain top talent across a finance organization with two to three layers of management.
- Familiarity with engineering cost drivers, including cloud infrastructure, software licensing, contractor spend, and headcount planning.
- Solid financial analysis skills, including the ability to interpret financial reports, identify trends and risks, and assess business performance.
- Ability to influence senior engineering and business leaders using data and clear business reasoning.
- Understanding of how software is built and scaled, along with a strong interest in technology.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to operate as an enterprise leader beyond a traditional Finance remit.
- Demonstrated success leading major strategic initiatives and setting direction around core business issues.
- Proactive decision-making, including consideration of second-order consequences.
- Strong written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain complex financial topics clearly to non-Finance audiences.
- Ability to build trust, loyalty, and effective cross-functional collaboration in demanding environments.
- Knowledge of the company’s strategic objectives and execution plans.
- Strategic understanding of the ServiceNow platform, services, and competitive landscape, or the ability to become effective quickly.
- Interest in progressing toward a CFO role in the technology sector.

Preferred Skills





- Experience in software companies with revenues above $1 billion and annual growth of 25% or more.
- Software industry experience.
- SaaS company experience.
- Relevant cloud experience.
- MBA or relevant graduate degree from a top-tier institution, or comparable academic experience.
- Technical academic background or early-career experience in IT or software engineering.

Cloud Platforms & Technologies

FinOps Responsibilities

- Manage infrastructure economics across public cloud and datacenter environments.
- Identify and implement cloud and engineering cost optimization opportunities without compromising delivery quality or velocity.
- Incorporate cloud infrastructure, software licensing, contractor spend, and headcount into financial planning and analysis.
- Support capital allocation and investment decisions through scenario modeling and tradeoff analysis.
- Provide financial visibility into Product and technology performance.
- Lead planning, forecasting, reforecasting, and cost management for engineering and related technology functions.
