POSITION SUMMARY:

Heavy Equipment / Truck / Trailer Technician (Journey Person) - is responsible for scheduling and overseeing work completed in alignment with established procedures. They will be accountable for ensuring a safe and efficient work culture.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

· Licensed Heavy Equipment or Truck Technician (Journeyperson)

· Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract

· 3+ years’ experience Supervising/Leading a team of Technicians is preferred.

· 5+ years of heavy equipment industry and equipment experience

· Experience using equipment software.

· Experience setting up and operating complex machinery.

· Strong mechanical abilities, including hydraulic, pneumatics and electrical repair.

· Experience using MS Office Suite, including Word and Excel

· Safety oriented and robust understanding of provincial safety regulations. Previous health and safety supervision experience is an asset.

· Positive attitude with the ability to motivate, coach and train technicians.

· Team oriented and willing to assist others when required.

· Exceptional time management and organizational skills

· Ability to plan and execute aspects of work independently.

· Commitment to project up-time and ensuring communication is a priority.

· Advanced verbal and written communication skills

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIES:

· Perform inspections of vehicles (Government Safety Inspections, Brake Inspections) to ensure compliance with all applicable Acts, regulations, and standards. Issue inspection certificates.

· Assess quality of work to ensure optimal output.

· Routinely inspect the Shop to ensure it is kept organized, clean and free from workplace hazards





· Make recommendations to management related to Shop equipment and ensure all Shop equipment is in good working order.

· Meet with the management team on a regular basis to discuss goals and review efficiency reports.

· Collaborate with the fleet coordinator to review schedules, assign work, address and update customer status in accordance with internal protocols to ensure internal and external expectations are met

· Communicate effectively with staff on “in progress work” for updates or costing.

· Oversee repairs, troubleshooting and diagnostics performed in the shop and sign off on repairs as required.

· Perform final run test of new/used equipment as required and sign off in the work order to mark the job as complete.

· Ensure required paperwork is completed for each job and submit it to the Fleet Coordinator.

· Provide technical expertise and guidance to Technicians.

· Ensure all health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to.

· Perform work on equipment when required.

· Work in collaboration with other departments and branches as required to ensure efficiency service expectations are met.

· Provide training and equipment overview to customers as required.

· Complete additional tasks as assigned.

· Responsible for the quality control for work performed by technicians within the team.

· Provide guidance to technicians within the team.

· Advanced communication of any/all work segments that will be overestimated time.

· Responsible for monitoring teams’ efficiency targets.

Rate of pay will be based on qualifications and experience.
