Hokusan Tea Canada is an award-winning wholesale tea supplier, working closely with cafés and restaurants across Canada. We are currently looking for a Distribution Assistant to support our warehouse operations, shipping, and inventory management.

We are seeking a proactive and versatile temporary HR Specialist to support our human resources operations during an HR Generalist’s maternity/parental leave. As our business enters an exciting growth phase, this role offers an exceptional opportunity for a motivated professional looking to help build an HR foundation from the ground up and gain valuable, hands-on generalist experience in an expanding company.

Key Responsibilities

- Support recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding of staff
- Maintain employee records and HR documentation
- Help administer payroll inputs, benefits, and time-off tracking
- Support compliance with employment standards and health & safety
- Assist with employee communications, scheduling, and culture initiatives
- Event planning and coordination
- Identify applicable workshops, seminars, and educational opportunities for employee training and development
- Communicate with external legal/accounting professionals
- Assist the President and other team members with tasks as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

- Over 4-5 years of experience in HR Operations, ideally in recruiting, payroll, employee lifecycle management, and policy management.
- Strong understanding of foundational HR processes,



employee lifecycle management, labor standards, and administrative best practices.
- Adaptable, resourceful, and eager to take ownership of projects in a dynamic, fast-growing setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Japanese language skill would be an asset (not mandatory)

Work schedule

- Full-time, 9am - 5pm (You can work flexible hours as needed)
- Temporary employment for 1 - 1.5 years.

Location

- Toronto (Remote. Onsite meeting happens once in a while in Downtown Toronto)

Compensation From 40,000 CAD / year
