Indigenous Business Liaison Officer

Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC) is seeking a motivated and relationship-focused individual to fill a full-time position of Indigenous Business Liaison Officer. Reporting to the MLTC CEO and the MLTC RDI Board, the

successful candidate will support Indigenous reconciliation initiatives and enhance Indigenous participation through employment, contracting, training, and community engagement opportunities within MLTC's forestry-related businesses.

The Officer will play a key role in fostering positive relationships among Indigenous employees, contractors, management, and MLTC member First Nations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Build and maintain positive working relationships among employees, contractors, management, and MLTC member First Nations.
- Act as a primary point of contact between MLTC First Nations and forestry-related operations to ensure open, transparent, and respectful communication.
- Attend supervisor and contractor meetings and collaborate with contractors operating within MLTC forestry enterprises.
- Support Indigenous inclusion initiatives through cultural awareness programming, diversity education, and workplace engagement activities.
- Facilitate the administration and delivery of benefits and programs to MLTC member First Nations, including Program Lift Lumber.
- Integrate Indigenous perspectives and traditional knowledge into project planning and operational activities.
- Support Indigenous agreements, partnerships, employment initiatives, and training opportunities.
- Identify and promote opportunities for Indigenous participation in procurement, workforce development, and economic inclusion.
- Create, monitor, update, and report on the implementation of the Indigenous Participation Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the MLTC CEO and MLTC RDI Board.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

· Combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.





· Experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations, leadership, or workforce initiatives.

Preferred:

· Strong understanding of Indigenous governance structures, treaties, rights, and current Indigenous issues in Saskatchewan.

· Experience supporting Indigenous employment, training, contracting, or economic development opportunities.

· Understanding of forestry, construction, infrastructure, natural resources, or related industries would be considered an asset.

Other:

· Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with diverse stakeholders.

· Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditional protocols, spiritual beliefs, and ceremonial practices.

· Experience developing and implementing community engagement or participation initiatives.

· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, supervisors, contractors, leadership, and community members.

· Robust organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

· Willingness to travel to various work locations and communities as required.

· Valid Saskatchewan Driver's License.

· Knowledge of Cree and/or Dene language would be considered a strong asset

· Excellent communication, negotiation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
