A leading manufacturing organization is seeking an Industrial Hygiene Specialist to support a complex Ontario-based operation. This is an opportunity to lead occupational-hygiene and exposure-control initiatives in a manufacturing environment, partnering with operational, engineering, maintenance, and technical teams.

The Role

As the Industrial Hygiene Specialist, you will provide technical leadership for the site’s occupational hygiene program. You will assess workplace exposures, develop monitoring strategies, evaluate controls, and help protect employee health across a range of manufacturing activities and facility projects.

This is a high-visibility, hands-on role for an industrial hygiene professional who can translate complex exposure data and technical requirements into practical, sustainable solutions for site teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and continuously improve the site’s occupational hygiene program, including related procedures, assessment processes, and performance-improvement initiatives.
- Develop and execute exposure-monitoring plans and sampling strategies relevant to manufacturing activities, materials, and work environments.
- Assess occupational exposure risks and support the establishment of appropriate internal exposure guidelines, monitoring methods, and control measures.
- Evaluate engineering controls, work practices, PPE, and facility conditions to identify potential employee-exposure risks and recommend practical improvements.




- Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and technical stakeholders to evaluate processes, equipment, and workplace conditions.
- Support hygiene and containment considerations during equipment installations, process changes, facility improvements, and other site projects.
- Provide technical guidance on ergonomics, task design, material handling, and workplace-layout considerations.
- Contribute to risk assessments, incident investigations, equipment reviews, audit responses, and corrective-action activities involving worker-health or exposure concerns.
- Serve as a technical resource to site leadership, operations, safety representatives, and cross-functional teams.
- Deliver explicit training and guidance on occupational hygiene practices, exposure controls, and safe work requirements.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related technical discipline.
- CIH, CRSP, or a comparable professional designation is an asset.
- At least 5 years of experience in occupational hygiene, EHS, manufacturing safety, or a related technical field.
- Strong communication and training skills, with the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both frontline personnel and leadership.
- Highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
