About the Sudbury Market The Greater Sudbury Market Association is a community-based, non-profit organization dedicated to connecting local farmers, food producers, artisans and small businesses with the Greater Sudbury community.

Operating year-round, the Sudbury Market provides a vibrant and welcoming space where residents and visitors can discover fresh local food, unique handmade products and the people behind them.

We are seeking an organized, enthusiastic and community-minded individual to join our team as an Interim Market Manager.

Position Overview The Interim Market Manager will provide temporary management and operational support to ensure the continued success of our year-round farmers' market during a period of staff absence.

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will oversee day-to-day market operations, coordinate vendors, manage weekly market activities, maintain administrative records and support marketing and community engagement initiatives.

We are looking for a dependable, hands-on individual who can work independently, manage competing priorities and build positive relationships with vendors, customers, volunteers and community partners.

This is a temporary position. The duration of the assignment will depend on operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Market Operations

- Coordinate all aspects of weekly market operations, including vendor setup, opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure the market remains clean, organized, safe and welcoming.
- Oversee vendor placement, attendance and adherence to established market policies.
- Coordinate volunteers and other support personnel as required.
- Address operational issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure continuity of market operations and a positive experience for vendors and customers.

Vendor Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for market vendors.
- Respond promptly to vendor inquiries and communicate important market information.
- Coordinate vendor applications, registrations,



scheduling and placement.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive and collaborative market environment.
- Address vendor concerns professionally, escalating matters to the Board of Directors when appropriate.

Marketing and Community Engagement
- Maintain an active and engaging social media presence, including Facebook and Instagram.
- Promote weekly markets, seasonal products, participating vendors and special events.
- Develop and coordinate promotional content to encourage market attendance.
- Support existing community partnerships and promotional initiatives.
- Engage with customers and encourage community participation.

Administration and Reporting
- Maintain accurate vendor records, attendance information and operational documentation.
- Coordinate vendor fee collection and maintain appropriate financial records.
- Provide regular operational updates to the Board of Directors.
- Implement established market policies and Board-approved operational procedures.
- Assist with event planning, administrative duties and other operational projects as required.

Qualifications and Experience The ideal candidate will possess:
- Previous experience in market management, retail operations, event coordination, hospitality or a related field.
- Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with vendors, small businesses or community organizations.
- The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and manage multiple priorities.
- Robust interpersonal skills and a professional, approachable manner.
- Experience using Facebook, Instagram and basic digital marketing tools.




- Proficiency with email, spreadsheets and common office applications.
- A commitment to excellent customer service and supporting the local community.

Experience with farmers' markets, local agriculture, food production or non-profit organizations is considered an asset.

Hours and Working Conditions

This position requires approximately 25–30 hours per week, including regular Saturday attendance during market hours and additional time for setup and closing.

Weekday hours will be required for vendor communication, administration, marketing and operational planning. Some evening and additional weekend availability may be necessary for meetings and special events.

The position is primarily on-site at Elm Place in downtown Sudbury, with some administrative duties potentially performed remotely.

Compensation and Contract Details

- Employment type: Temporary contract
- Compensation: $22–$25 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
- Hours: Approximately 25–30 hours per week
- Contract duration: Dependent on operational requirements
- Anticipated start date: As soon as possible
- Reporting relationship: Board of Directors

This temporary position is intended to ensure continuity of market operations during a period of staff absence. The duration of the assignment will be determined by the Association's operational needs.
