Intermediate Architectural Technologist

Felix Culpa Architecture is looking for an Intermediate Architectural Technologist to join our growing studio in Windsor.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the technical side of architecture, the person who appreciates a well-resolved detail, takes pride in a clear and coordinated drawing set, and likes figuring out how a building goes together.

This is not primarily a design position. At least, not yet.

We need someone who can step into our team and contribute to the technical development, documentation and delivery of projects right away. In return, we’re offering the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and grow into a senior role as FCA continues to evolve.

What You’ll Do

You’ll work closely with our team on a variety of residential and commercial projects in Canada and the United States (Michigan.)

Your initial focus will be architectural production and technical documentation, including:

· Developing architectural drawing packages from design development through permit and construction

· Producing and resolving architectural details, sections and assemblies

· Building, developing and maintaining project models in Revit

· Applying the Ontario Building Code to project documentation

· Preparing and coordinating permit submissions

· Incorporating and coordinating information from structural, mechanical, electrical and other consultants

· Reviewing your work for accuracy, completeness and coordination

· Managing revisions, markups and outstanding items through to completion

· Contributing to the continued development of FCA’s Revit, BIM, drawing and documentation standards

Depending on your experience and interests, you may also become involved in consultant coordination, construction administration, site work, client communication, visualization and design.

What We’re Looking For For this position, the quality and relevance of your experience matter more to us than simply counting years.

We’re looking for someone with approximately 3+ years of relevant professional experience who can join the team with a relatively short runway and contribute meaningfully to project production.

You should bring

· A diploma in Architectural Technology or a related architectural technology program (minimum)

· Strong working proficiency in Revit

· Experience producing architectural permit and construction drawing packages

· Strong architectural detailing skills





· A practical understanding of how buildings are assembled and constructed

· Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code

· Experience preparing documentation for permit submissions

· Robust organizational skills and attention to detail

· The ability to manage your own assigned work and follow it through to completion

Just as importantly, we’re looking for someone who takes ownership of their work. If something is unresolved, you notice it. If you need information, you ask for it. And when something is assigned to you, you make sure the loop gets closed.

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

These aren’t requirements, but they would make you particularly valuable to our team:

· Consultant coordination experience

· Construction administration experience

· Site or construction experience

· BIM management experience

· Experience developing Revit templates, families, standards or libraries

· Client-facing experience

· Rendering or visualization skills

· Design ability or an interest in developing design skills over time

· Experience across multiple project types

Where This Role Can Go

We aren’t hiring someone to remain in the same production role indefinitely.

As you develop within FCA, we want you to take ownership of increasingly significant parts of our projects and our practice.

Over the next few years, that could mean:

· Coordinating consultants

· Communicating directly with clients

· Becoming more involved during construction

· Managing complete projects

· Mentoring junior staff

· Taking on design responsibility

· Helping lead FCA’s technical and production standards For someone who loves the technical side of architecture, there is a particular opportunity to eventually own and shape how FCA produces its work, including our Revit environment, BIM standards, detail and assembly libraries, documentation standards and production systems.

Compensation

$55,000–$65,000 per year, commensurate with experience and technical capability.

This is a full-time position based in Windsor, Ontario.
