Niche Decor is a full service interior design studio with a 10,000 sq ft designer showroom in Newmarket, Ontario. We have been designing homes for more than 30 years. Our spaces are approachable, timeless, and thoughtfully tailored to how each client lives.

Our work goes well beyond selecting furniture and fabrics. Our design team takes on complete residential projects, from the drawings and renovation plans right through to the final furnishing package and install. This includes:

- New custom home builds
- Full and partial renovations
- Space planning and layout design
- Material and finish selections
- Custom cabinetry
- Lighting plans, window treatments and wall details
- Complete furnishing packages, including custom upholstery, lighting, rugs, art and accessories
- Styling and installation

About the Role

This is a key position on our team. You will work directly under our Senior Design & Creative Director and take ownership project from start to finish.

This role covers both sides of our work. You'll handle the technical side of renovations and new builds, including measurements, drawings and finish selections. You'll also develop complete furnishing packages for our clients, from layout and selections through pricing and installation.

You will be stepping into a busy, established studio with defined systems, templates and standards. You'll need to learn them quickly and work within them accurately.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, precise, and a fast learner. You take pride in getting the details right the first time.

Responsibilities

- Attend design consultations and presentations with senior designers, taking detailed notes on client preferences, requirements and feedback
- Take accurate on site measurements and produce precise floor plans, elevations and drawings in AutoCAD
- Double check all dimensions, drawings and design details before they leave your desk




- Develop material and finish selections for renovation and new build projects
- Develop full furnishing packages, including furniture, upholstery configurations, fabrics, lighting, rugs, window treatments, art and accessories, all scaled and specified to each space
- Prepare thoughtful, polished presentations that reflect client needs, creative solutions and Niche Decor standards
- Price products according to company guidelines and help close presentations with timely order deposits
- Track project hours, client logs, drawings, correspondence and project files accurately
- Keep clients updated on product ETAs and coordinate installations with our service team
- Communicate with builders and trades on project details as directed
- Maintain consistent communication with senior designers on project progress and flag challenges early
- Balance client budgets with company profitability through mindful, well considered selections
- Stay current on product knowledge, supplier offerings, customization options and company policies
- Participate in client installations, styling and photoshoots of showroom and client projects
- Help train and mentor junior team members and summer interns

Required Qualifications (applications that do not meet these will not be considered)

- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design
- Minimum of 3 years of professional residential interior design experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, including floor plans and elevations
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint
- A portfolio of your professional work
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially with measurements and drawings
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and a confident,



professional manner with clients
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a busy, deadline driven studio

Assets

- Experience on renovation or new custom build projects
- Experience developing full furnishing packages for residential clients
- Knowledge of furniture construction, custom upholstery and made to order furnishings
- Familiarity with other design software
- A strong understanding of quality furnishings, scale, proportion and timeless design
