Job Summary

Coralee Monaghan Interiors is seeking a talented and experienced Intermediate Interior Designer to join our growing design studio in Orillia, Ontario.

We specialize in thoughtfully designed, high-end residential interiors, renovations and cottages throughout Orillia, Muskoka and surrounding areas. Our work is rooted in creating timeless, layered interiors that balance beauty, function and the individual character of each home.

The Intermediate Interior Designer will work closely with our team throughout all phases of the design process, from initial concepts and space planning through detailed drawings, material and finish selections, sourcing, procurement and project implementation.

We are looking for someone with strong residential design experience who is creative, highly organized and technically capable. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently on assigned aspects of a project while collaborating closely with our team, clients, contractors, trades and vendors.

Duties

- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and contractors to develop comprehensive interior design concepts that meet functional and aesthetic objectives.
- Create detailed digital designs using advanced software tools.
- Develop visual presentations incorporating motion graphics, 2D and 3D animations, and visual arts painting techniques to effectively communicate design ideas.
- Prepare construction documents, including plans, elevations, sections, and specifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with building codes.
- Select appropriate materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, and accessories to enhance the overall design concept.
- Conduct site visits for measurements, inspections, and construction painting assessments to ensure project fidelity.




- Stay current with trends in graphic design, typography, fashion design influences, and visual arts to bring fresh perspectives into each project.

Qualifications

- Minimum 3+ years of residential design experience.
- Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Interior Decorating, or a related field.
- Must live within driving distance to Orillia, ON.
- Must own vehicle and have a valid driver's licence.
- Proven experience as an interior designer or in a related role with a solid portfolio showcasing digital design projects.
- Strong understanding of the residential design and renovation process, from concept through installation.
- Skilled in 3D modeling software program SketchUp is essential.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings and construction documents accurately.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating effectively and presenting ideas clearly to team and clients.
- Experience developing design concepts, finish palettes, material selections and specifications.
- Experience sourcing and specifying furniture, lighting, plumbing fixtures, tile, flooring, hardware, fabrics and finishes.
- Ability to prepare millwork, cabinetry, kitchen and bathroom design drawings.
