ART Engineering Inc. (AEI) is currently seeking an Intermediate or Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team based in North York. The successful candidate will provide full-time engineering support for temporary works associated with a tunnel construction project in the Durham Region. The role will involve engineering design, inspection, field review, and coordination with construction teams in an active heavy civil construction environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing responsive engineering support throughout construction, while coordinating with AEI’s in-house design teams as required. This specific assignment is anticipated to extend from early to mid 2027. Following this assignment, the successful candidate will join the North York office on a full-time permanent basis.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Provide on-site engineering support for temporary works associated with tunnel construction.
- Review and respond to temporary works site queries and field conditions arising during construction.
- Develop temporary works designs, calculations, sketches, drawings, and supporting technical documentation.
- Review,



approve, and sign/seal temporary works design modifications and field deviations within the engineer’s scope of responsibility.
- Conduct site inspections and field reviews to confirm temporary works are implemented in accordance with applicable designs, codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Provide timely engineering direction to support construction activities and minimize delays associated with temporary works issues.
- Manage the review, revision, and approval of temporary works designs and coordinate their implementation with site personnel.
- Liaise with contractors, construction management, clients, specialist designers, and other project stakeholders to resolve technical issues and maintain effective communication.
- Coordinate with AEI’s internal engineering teams where additional technical expertise or bandwidth is required.
- Maintain explicit engineering records and documentation for temporary works designs, reviews, field decisions, and design modifications.
