Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician

Location: Red Deer, Alberta

Job type: Full time, permanent

Pay: $45–$50 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Four days per week (10 hours per day), 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Talent Compass is recruiting a Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician for a busy, family-run repair shop in Red Deer. The shop has strong customer demand and is looking for a dependable, safety-minded technician who takes pride in doing good work and enjoys being part of a practical, hardworking team.

You’ll work on a range of vehicles, from routine maintenance to complex diagnostics and repairs. The owner values quality work, a clean and protected shop, and people who can stay focused while supporting their teammates. There is reasonable flexibility to rearrange the schedule for appointments or family commitments, along with the option to work additional hours.

What You’ll Do

- Inspect vehicles and diagnose customer concerns using electronic diagnostic equipment, service information and hands-on testing.
- Repair and maintain engines, brakes, steering, suspension, drivetrains, electrical systems and other vehicle components.
- Perform scheduled maintenance, then test completed repairs to confirm the work has been done properly.
- Record diagnostic findings, work completed and recommended future repairs in the shop’s work-order system.
- Manage your time effectively to meet repair expectations without compromising safety or quality.
- Keep your tools,



equipment and work area clean, organized and safe.
- Handle and dispose of used fluids, parts and other materials according to shop procedures
- Communicate clearly with teammates and, when needed, customers about vehicle concerns and completed work.

What You Bring

- A Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician certificate; Red Seal endorsement is preferred.
- Strong experience diagnosing and repairing a range of vehicle systems.
- Your own tools and required PPE, plus a valid driver’s licence.
- Confidence using diagnostic equipment, computers and service information.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality and the ability to stay focused in a busy shop.
- Good judgment, including knowing when to ask a question or get a second opinion.
- A safety-minded approach and pride in maintaining a clean workspace.
- The ability to safely lift up to 50 lb when required.

Diesel experience and out-of-province inspection certification are assets, but are not required.
