Primary Duties The Journeyperson, Measurement and Communication is responsible for planning, installation, maintenance and testing of metering equipment and associated communication systems for the operation of electric, water, and gas utility services. They investigate power quality problems and analyze consumption and power quality data to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of meter services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct meter service, upgrades, exchanges, installs, troubleshooting and service verification.
2. Perform meter communications maintenance and repairs for electric, gas and water utilities.
3.
Maintain communications for third party interval customer portal and remedy MSP issues promptly to maintain billing system integrity and regulatory requirements.
4. Ensure meter data is accurate and in compliance with rules/regulations for large interval electrical or gas revenue metering, complex customer billing and reporting.
5. Provision MV90 data for billing, customers, contractors, reporting and energy forecasting.
6. Assist in the development of meter procedures, standards and specifications.
7. Operate test equipment and analyze results to verify accuracy of electric, gas and water meters.
8. Prepare and maintain installation records in compliance with regulatory requirements and operating needs.
9. Assist in the performance of quality control of metering and meter sampling groups.
10. Assist with system testing during upgrades and report test results.
11. Investigate customer concerns and complaints to support issue resolution.
12. Assess sites that are malfunctioning to develop solutions to communication issues.
13. Provide meter service support in emergency or time sensitive situations.
14. Comply with all health and safety requirements, maintain a safe work environment, report hazards and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced proficiency with analyzing equipment,
communication systems and specialized metering business applications
- Intermediate knowledge of UK Conditions of Service and Metering Standards as well as IESO Market Rules
- Intermediate ability to interpret layout drawings and diagrams
- Intermediate knowledge of the Utility Work Protection Code
- Intermediate written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate proficiency with MS 365 and keyboarding skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individual, organizational and operational requirements
- Basic problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required
- Journeyperson Meter Technician Certification
- 4+ years experience in a similar role
- TSSA G3 gas certification is considered an asset
- Class G drivers’ licence
