Fully qualified, and paid like it. We're hiring a journeyperson Truck & Transport Mechanic to anchor our Grande Prairie shop; the wrench is yours, and so are the apprentices.

You're on $55 an hour, with overtime at time and a half on every paycheque; we don't bank it. You work out of our shop, in town; no camp, no rotation. And you won't be working alone: we sponsor registered apprentices through Skilled Trades Alberta, and part of this role is having them work under you; real mentorship, the kind you either got on your way up or wish you had.

Fire Ridge Transport Ltd. is an oilfield transport and services company based in Grande Prairie. We move equipment and materials across Western Canada, and our fleet only earns when it's rolling, so the shop that keeps it rolling matters as much as the trucks themselves. We maintain our equipment to a high standard and we invest in the people who hold themselves to the same one.

Why this beats camp work

Plenty of jobs in the Peace Region pay a journeyperson well and cost them their life outside work to do it. This one doesn't. It's shop-based work in Grande Prairie: no camp, no rotation. When a truck breaks down on site you'll head out on a local field call, because that's the trade; but you're building your shop in town, not living it away from home.

What you'll be doing

- Diagnosis, repair, and servicing across the fleet: brake and air systems, drivetrain, suspension, steering, electrical, hydraulics
- Conducting CVIP inspections and completing the associated documentation to Alberta Transportation standard
- Out-of-service and return-to-service determinations
- Running the preventive maintenance programme across trucks and trailers




- Mentoring our registered apprentices: day-to-day technical supervision, instruction, and verifying and signing their trade hours
- Local field service calls when a unit is down on site
- Keeping the shop clean, safe, and organised, and the parts and work-order records straight

What we need from you

- Journeyperson certification in the Heavy Equipment Technician (Truck and Transport Mechanic) trade, recognised by Skilled Trades Alberta, current and in good standing, with Red Seal endorsement
- Willingness to act as an assigned mentor to our registered apprentices
- A valid Alberta driver's licence; Air Brake (Q) endorsement
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada

- Current CVIP inspection authorisation
- A Class 1 or 3 licence

Attitude and reliability are what we can't teach; everything else, you'll be the one teaching. Pay: $55.00 per hour
