As a growing Canadian manufacturer with five facilities across Ontario, we’re expanding our Engineering team and looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer eager to build their technical skills and gain hands-on manufacturing experience.

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent grad or early-career engineer who enjoys solving problems, learning how equipment and processes work, and seeing ideas come to life on the manufacturing floor.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you’ll contribute to projects involving machine design, automation, robotics, plant layouts, equipment commissioning, capital improvements and process optimization. You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of engineering disciplines while developing practical skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do

- Support the design and improvement of manufacturing equipment, tooling and production processes.
- Develop and update mechanical designs, 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
- Assist with automation, robotics, machine design and equipment integration projects.
- Support equipment installations, testing, commissioning and capital improvement projects.
- Help develop production layouts, manufacturing cells and equipment improvements.
- Work with experienced team members to troubleshoot equipment and production challenges.
- Gather information, analyze problems and help develop practical engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Production, Maintenance, Sales and external suppliers.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity and operational efficiency.
- Assist with new equipment implementation, process development and manufacturing optimization.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, technical specifications, drawings and project reports.
- Visit Spectra’s manufacturing facilities as required to support projects and gain hands-on experience.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Recent graduates and candidates with early-career engineering experience are encouraged to apply.
- Experience using SolidWorks is required; experience gained through school, co-op placements, internships or professional work will be considered.
- Experience with AutoCAD is considered an asset.
- Previous exposure to a manufacturing, industrial or automation environment through employment, co-op, internships or academic projects is preferred.
- Exposure to manufacturing equipment, machine design, robotics, automation, equipment commissioning or capital projects is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, project management or process optimization is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
