Junior Process Engineer, Oil and Gas Industry

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Junior Process Engineer for our Edmonton office. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting process engineering activities for industrial projects.

Key responsibilities

- Review project scope and requirements.
- Prepare mass balances.
- Develop and update Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;).
- Assign line numbers and connection points.
- Incorporate and coordinate comments from other disciplines.
- Follow up on P&ID; comments and prepare document revisions.
- Prepare equipment and instrument datasheets.
- Perform hydraulic calculations for pump and piping sizing.
- Prepare process study files and supporting documentation.
- Develop and maintain pipe and connection point lists.
- Populate and manage process databases.
- Coordinate activities with the mechanical and instrumentation teams.




- Ensure proper document classification and document control.
- Prepare reports required by the project.
- Participate in projects involving fuel distribution terminals, refineries and other industrial facilities.
- Support the development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), heat loss calculations and other engineering studies.
- Work with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to provide status updates and resolve technical challenges.
- Perform any other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related field.
- 0 to 3 years of relevant experience in process engineering, including internships or co-op placements.
- Knowledge of process engineering principles and calculations.
- Familiarity with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs).
- Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and technical analyses.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Self-starter, proactive and results-oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a quick-paced environment.
