Platinum Chemical Solutions is seeking a motivated, safety-focused Lab Technologist to join our Technology team in Grande Prairie, Alberta. This is an entry-level laboratory position for an individual with a strong technical foundation who wants to build practical experience in applied chemistry, oilfield chemical technology, and technical problem solving.

Working with the Technology team, you will generate reliable laboratory data, help interpret results, and support practical solutions for customer and operational challenges. On-the-job training will be provided. As your competency and experience grow, the role may expand into method improvement, product-development support, troubleshooting, field-trial support, and other technical projects.

In this role, you will perform routine laboratory testing, sample and product evaluation, equipment care, and accurate technical documentation while supporting day-to-day laboratory operations. You will also contribute to field-related projects through the evaluation of chemical products, produced fluids, deposits, and other samples relevant to oilfield applications.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine laboratory analyses, testing, sample preparation, and product evaluations using established procedures and test methods.
- Support laboratory testing for field projects involving oilfield chemical applications, including evaluation of products, fluids, and solids.
- Record observations, calculations, test conditions, and results accurately and maintain organized laboratory documentation.
- Assist with interpretation of test results and communicate findings to the Technical Manager and other technical team members.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, work areas, and supplies in a clean, safe, and functional condition.
- Support inventory management and ordering of laboratory chemicals, raw materials, consumables, and equipment.
- Assist with development, improvement, and documentation of laboratory test methods and procedures as experience and competency grow.
- Follow all company safety requirements,



PPE standards, chemical-handling procedures, sample-management practices, and waste-disposal requirements.
- Perform other laboratory and technical duties consistent with the position and level of demonstrated competency.

Education & Experience

Required / Preferred Background

- Bachelor's degree, diploma, or advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering, Applied Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong understanding of basic scientific methodology, laboratory practices, and accurate technical documentation.
- Ability to follow written procedures, learn new methods, and work carefully with chemicals, samples, and laboratory equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving ability.

Experience: Previous laboratory, research, product-development, industrial chemical, or oil and gas experience is an asset but is not required for a strong entry-level candidate. Relevant academic laboratory experience will be considered.

Work Workplace & Physical Requirements

This position operates primarily in a laboratory environment and may involve regular work with hazardous materials under established controls and procedures.

The role requires regular standing, walking, reaching, handling of laboratory materials and equipment, and occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching. The employee must be able to occasionally lift or move materials weighing up to 50 lb (23 kg). Appropriate PPE is required for designated tasks and work areas.

Occasional field or customer-site support may be required as the employee gains experience and competency.

Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
