Job Details: Job Location: Toronto (Mississauga) - Mississauga, ON, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.00Hourly, EMSL Canada is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Chemistry/Lead) in Mississauga, ON. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.

Essential Duties &

Responsibilities: TCLP sample preparation: particle size reduction using various cutting tools such as band saw, mitre saw, chisels, hammer, heavy duty scissors, Wiss snip, Dremel tools. Should be able to perform pH test, sample extraction and filtration.

Sample preparation: weighing and acid digestion for Lead (Pb) analysis on various media such as paint, soil, wipes and air cassettes.

- Should be able to perform basic chemistry tasks such as pipetting, use of analytical balances, performing volumetric measurements, preparation of reagents and standards while maintaining documentation and record keeping. Must be able to handle with care laboratory grade acids, solvents and other reagents. Safety training will be provided Assist with sample organization and sample disposal Cleaning and maintenance of laboratory glassware and equipment Must follow all quality control procedures established for the laboratory and test methods.



Cross-training in other areas of analysis may be required to meet business demands.

Qualifications: Requirements: Environmental Science and/or Chemistry background 1 year experience working in a lab setting preferred but not required Authorization to work in Canada indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship Must be able to work independently and with a team
- Must be able to take instructions and follow standard operating procedures as written and exhibit fundamental time management skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize work assignments Must be concise, organized and meticulous regarding work assignments and documentation
- Candidate must be able to distinguish between colors in order to perform analysis Must have excellent communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills.
- Must be willing and able to work OT and some weekends Available Shift: Position is full-time, Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Mississauga, ON are encouraged to apply.
