Canadian Erosion & Containment Ltd. (CEC) is one of Western Canada's leading environmental and civil construction contractors, specializing in geomembrane liner installation, erosion control, hydroseeding, reclamation, environmental containment, retaining walls, and earthworks.

We are looking for a motivated, safety-focused Lead Hand to help lead our field crews on projects across Alberta and British Columbia. This position is ideal for an experienced construction professional who enjoys mentoring others, taking ownership of projects, and helping crews complete work safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Foreman, the Lead Hand will provide day-to-day leadership and support to field crews while helping maintain CEC's high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate daily field activities
- Assist the Foreman with planning and execution of work scopes
- Promote and enforce CEC and client safety requirements
- Conduct daily toolbox meetings and participate in FLHAs
- Mentor and train labourers, operators, and technicians
- Read and interpret project drawings and specifications
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements
- Monitor productivity and quality of installation activities
- Coordinate equipment, materials, and manpower on site
- Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and project management




- Complete daily reports and project documentation
- Maintain a professional image representing CEC at all times

Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of construction experience
- Previous Lead Hand, Crew Lead, or Supervisory experience preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
- Experience in one or more of the following is considered a major asset:
- Geomembrane liner installation
- Earthworks
- Hydroseeding
- Erosion and sediment control
- Environmental construction
- Heavy equipment operation
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Ability to travel extensively for work throughout Western Canada
- Ability to work extended shifts, rotations, and remote camp projects
- Able to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing

Required Safety Certifications
- CSTS 2020
- H2S Alive
- Standard First Aid
