Position: Logistics Coordinator

Primary Location: On-site position based in Mississauga, ON

Schedule: FT, Salaried

Reports To: Operations Manager

Compensation: CAD 40,000 - CAD 50,000

Role Description The Logistics Coordinator role is a full-time, on-site position based in Mississauga, ON. JMD Corporation is looking for a motivated and experienced Logistics Coordinator to join our growing transportation and logistics team.The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating freight movements across Canada and the United States, sourcing and negotiating with carriers, tracking shipments, supporting customers, and ensuring loads are picked up and delivered safely and on time.

This is a fast-paced role requiring strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.



The ideal candidate understands the transportation industry and is comfortable managing multiple shipments, carriers, customers, and priorities simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

- Source and secure qualified carriers for FTL, LTL, flatbed and specialized shipments throughout Canada and the United States.
- Negotiate competitive carrier rates while maintaining service quality and profitable margins.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers and transportation partners.
- Vet and qualify new carriers according to company compliance and safety requirements.
- Book loads and communicate complete pickup, delivery and shipment requirements to carriers.
- Coordinate shipments from pickup through final delivery, including appointments, tracking and status updates.
- Proactively monitor shipments and identify potential delays, service failures or other risks.
- Resolve issues involving missed appointments, delays, equipment changes, detention and other accessorial charges.
- Maintain accurate shipment and carrier information within the company's Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Understand current freight-market conditions, capacity and carrier pricing trends.
- Obtain spot-market pricing by communicating with multiple carriers and evaluating available options.
- Prepare, review and maintain transportation documentation including BOLs, PODs and carrier confirmations.




- Provide professional customer service and timely shipment updates.
- Work closely with management, operations and sales to support existing customers and develop new business opportunities

Qualifications

- Previous experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, dispatch or carrier procurement is strongly preferred.
- Good understanding of the Canadian and U.S. transportation industry.
- Experience sourcing carriers and negotiating freight rates is an asset.
- Knowledge of FTL and LTL operations is a strong asset.
- Understanding of transportation regulations, carrier compliance and cross-border freight is an asset.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong customer-service and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple loads and priorities simultaneously.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, email and transportation/logistics software.
- Willingness to provide occasional after-hours/weekend support.
