POSITION DESCRIPTION
1. IDENTIFYING INFORMATION
Department: Sales
Position: Lot Attendant
Reports To: Sales Manager
2. POSITION SUMMARY
The Lot Attendant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day organization, cleanliness, safety, and operation of the dealership sales lot. This is a hands-on, physically active position that includes vehicle movement, tire and wheel handling, vehicle preparation, delivery and PDI support, lot organization, and assisting the Sales Department as required.
The successful candidate must be reliable, hardworking, able to follow direction, comfortable working independently, and capable of using dealership software, mobile applications, and other technology required for the role.
Evening and weekend work will be required.
3. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain the organization, cleanliness, appearance, and safety of the dealership sales lot.
- Keep vehicle inventory properly organized and move or rearrange vehicles as required.
- Maintain clear driving lanes, walkways, guest parking areas, and vehicle display areas.
- Locate, pull, move, load, unload, and organize tires and wheel assemblies as required.
- Assist with tire storage and movement between departments or storage locations.
- Assist with preparing new and used vehicles for customer delivery.
- Move vehicles through PDI, detail, fueling, and delivery preparation as required.
- Fuel PDI's and other vehicles as needed.
- Assist with receiving and organizing incoming/outgoing vehicle inventory and dealer trades.
- Maintain accurate vehicle locations using dealership systems and applications.
- Transport vehicles, customers, parts, tires, or dealership materials as directed.
- Conduct basic visual inspections when moving vehicles and report damage or safety concerns.
- Assist Sales Managers, Product Advisors, and other departments as required.
- Provide professional and courteous assistance to customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
4. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong work ethic with reliable and punctual attendance.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a quick-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean and organized workplace.
- Comfortable using smartphones, apps, dealership software, and basic technology.
- Ability to learn and consistently follow dealership processes.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's licence with a secure driving record.
- Ability to operate a variety of passenger vehicles and light trucks.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles is considered an asset.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
5. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is a physically active position requiring the ability to:
- Regularly stand, walk, bend, crouch, reach, push, pull, lift, and carry.
- Frequently lift, carry, move, and organize automotive tires and wheel assemblies.
- Perform repetitive lifting and physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Frequently enter and exit vehicles.
- Work outdoors in hot, cold, wet, snowy, and other seasonal conditions.
Safe lifting practices and appropriate assistance or equipment must be used when handling items that cannot safely be moved by one person.
6. GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
The Lot Attendant is expected to take pride in the condition and organization of the dealership lot, recognize work that needs to be completed, and contribute wherever required to keep dealership operations running efficiently. The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, physically capable, organized, comfortable with technology, and able to work well as part of a team.
