Position Summary The Educational Assistant Instructor delivers practical, engaging instruction that prepares students to support learners in school settings. The instructor plans and teaches course content, assesses student progress, and helps students develop the knowledge, professional judgment, and practical skills needed to work under the direction of teachers and school teams.

The role emphasizes inclusive education, respectful relationships, student independence, and support for learners with diverse abilities and needs.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and deliver lessons aligned with the approved curriculum and program learning outcomes.
- Teach topics such as child and adolescent development, inclusive education, learning differences, communication, positive behaviour support, and skilled responsibilities.
- Demonstrate strategies for supporting literacy, numeracy, classroom participation, and social development.
- Introduce students to assistive technology, accessible learning materials, and strategies for supporting individual learning goals.
- Use demonstrations, case studies, role-playing, and practical activities to connect theory with classroom practice.
- Develop and assess assignments, quizzes, presentations, and practical demonstrations using clear evaluation criteria.
- Provide timely feedback and additional guidance to students who need support.
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and student progress records.




- Create a respectful learning environment that supports adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Reinforce confidentiality, professional boundaries, student dignity, and the Educational Assistant’s role within a school team.
- Support practicum preparation and, where assigned, collaborate with placement supervisors to monitor student progress.
- Participate in program meetings, curriculum reviews, and professional development.

Required Qualifications
- Relevant post-secondary qualification in education, educational assistance, special education, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience supporting children or youth with diverse learning needs in school settings.
- Knowledge of inclusive classroom practices and the responsibilities of Educational Assistants.
- Ability to explain concepts clearly, demonstrate practical skills, and provide constructive feedback.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with common digital teaching tools and willingness to use a learning management system.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching, training, mentoring, or supervising adult learners.
- A teaching qualification or adult education credential.
- Experience supervising Educational Assistant placements or supporting workplace learning.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and accessible instructional practices.
- Experience using culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches.

Working from 6:00 pm to 9 pm.
