We are currently welcoming an Emergency Department Manager to join our leadership team. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this full-time role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the emergency department, supporting team development and ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care and client service.

General responsibilities

As the ER Manager, you will ensure the efficient and effective operation of our emergency service while fostering a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment.

- Oversee Daily ER Operations: Direct daily emergency service operations for Veterinarians (DVMs), Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), Technician Assistants (TAs), and support staff in close collaboration with the General Manager (GM) and other technical managers.
- Lead & Develop Technical Teams: Lead and manage RVTs and TAs through active mentorship, skills development, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

- Collaborate on Leadership team: Collaborate actively as a member of London Regional’s Senior Leadership Team, contributing ideas and feedback on hospital-wide operations and initiatives.
- Elevate Patient Care & Client Service: Manage daily workflow to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care and partner with the Client Service Manager to resolve client concerns and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Lead Performance Management: Conduct coaching, regular performance reviews, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions, while following up on workload and performance challenges.
- Manage Recruitment, Hiring & Onboarding:

Partner with technical managers to establish staffing needs, submit staffing requests, and recruit, hire, and train new technical staff, while supporting the onboarding of DVMs and support team members.
- Champion Student Programs: Partner with technical managers to recruit for and lead student externship and internship programs to develop and attract top technician and assistant talent.
- Lead Meetings & Communication: Coordinate and lead departmental and inter-departmental meetings and committees, and provide weekly operational updates to the General Manager.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance & Administration: Ensure adherence to hospital policies and procedures, while completing required administrative tasks.
