The College of Naturopaths of Ontario works to protect the public interest by regulating naturopaths in support of the public’s right to competent, protected and ethical naturopathic care. The College fulfills its role by setting the requirements to enter the profession, setting standards of practice, administering a quality assurance program, and holding Ontario’s naturopaths accountable for their conduct and practice.
Position Overview The Manager, Finance and Risk is accountable for managing and supporting key organizational functions that contribute to the College’s overall effectiveness and sustainability.
Responsibilities include supporting the College’s financial activities, information technology (IT) systems, and the Enterprise Risk Management Program. The position is also responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of these program areas, including the coordination and support of associated committees and personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities The incumbent will be responsible to:
- Manage the College’s financial activities by:
- Overseeing all Accounts Payable and Receivable procedures including scheduled recurring bills and invoices, expense claims, payments related to agreements, etc.
- Overseeing monthly reconciliation of bank, credit cards and HST accounts.
- Preparing quarterly reports following standard accounting processes for financial analysis and reporting activities, including actuals against budget with initial variance and year-end projection analysis, balance sheets, statement of operations, cash flow analysis and the reclassifications and posting of journal entries.
- Overseeing monthly tax remittances and bi-weekly payroll.
- Monitoring the performance of College bank accounts and investments.
- Facilitating financial management activities including the preparation of an annual budget, annual audit and any other special audits or reviews that may occur from time to time.
- Providing back-up support for all accounting functions including the approval of payroll in the absence of the Finance Coordinator or Manager, Human Resources.
- Manage the College’s IT systems by:
- Overseeing the College’s third-party vendor in their maintenance of College IT systems.
- Overseeing the procurement, staff assignment and secure disposal of all IT equipment.
- Ensuring IT purchases are within approved capital budget amounts.
- Manage the Enterprise Risk Management program by:
- Overseeing the continued development and maintenance of the College’s Enterprise Risk Management program.
- Monitoring the progress of risk controls and assisting the Director, Operations in the preparation of reports for decision making purposes.
- Regularly liaises with risk owners, conducts analysis of emerging issues and trends and escalates any significant changes to the Director, Operations.
- Fostering a positive risk management culture within the organization.
- Developing and delivering enterprise risk management training to staff and volunteers, as directed by the Director, Operations.
- Provide Committee Support by:
- Working with the Director, Operations to provide support and guidance to the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, including but not limited to:
· Developing agendas with the Committee Chair and staff of the College.
· Preparing briefings,
summary documents and policy recommendations on matters relating to finance and risk management activities.
· Ensuring meeting materials and meeting minutes are accurate and disseminated in accordance with College policies and procedures.
- Manage day-to-day operations by:
- Managing the activities of direct reports in accordance with the policies and procedures of the College.
- Managing program records in accordance with the Records Management policy and procedures
- Developing and updating program area policies and procedures related to program areas and areas of responsibility.
- Compiling quarterly and annual statistical reports information for College reports.
- Assist the Director, Operations by:
- Assisting the Director, Operations in the recruitment, onboarding, coaching of staff, staff recognition, and in the conducting of probationary and annual performance reviews.
- Assisting the Director, Operations in the development of Council briefing materials and supporting documents, as needed.
- Assisting the Director, Operations with the provision of information to support internal and external reporting requirements.

Qualifications To perform the duties successfully, the incumbent will have:
· Education/Experience: Designation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP) or in the process of completion. Minimum of five years’ related experience and/or education; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members. Ability to write presentations and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
· Accuracy: Ability to pay attention to details and produce accurate and balanced financial statements and reports.
· Accounting: Ability to apply accounting concepts such as revenues, expenses, assets, capital and liabilities.
· Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
· Computer Skills: Ability to proficiently use word processing software, spreadsheet software, internet software, and contact management systems.

Terms and Working Conditions
· This is a full-time, permanent position with the College;
· The College offers a hybrid remote and in-office work schedule;
· The position is based on a 35-hour work week, Monday to Friday
· Salary range of $82,872.82 - $113,016.33 per year based on experience.
