Excel Society is seeking a Marketing and Communications Assistant to support our mission of enhancing engagement, awareness, volunteerism, and philanthropic initiatives.
Hours of Work : Hours of work: 20 flex hours (40 hours biweekly) Key Responsibilities
Draft, edit, proofread, and format internal and external communications including announcements, articles, newsletters, website content, promotional materials, and social media posts.
Maintain and update website content, ensuring information remains accurate, current, accessible, and aligned with organizational standards.
Coordinate the production and distribution of newsletters and recurring organizational communications.
Support social media activities by scheduling content, maintaining content calendars, and monitoring engagement.
Gather stories, photographs, program updates, and other content from departments and stakeholders.
Assist with communications campaigns, community engagement initiatives, organizational events, and fundraising activities.
Maintain communication records, digital assets,
editorial calendars, approval processes, and project documentation.
Compile communication metrics and prepare reports using approved reporting tools and templates.
Ensure all communications meet organizational standards for accuracy, accessibility, quality, and brand compliance.
Requirements
Certificate or diploma in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, digital media, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Related experience in communications, marketing, digital content, or administrative support. Relevant practicum, internship, volunteer, or non-profit experience may be considered..
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated editing and proofreading ability.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, content management systems, and social media platforms.
Ability to prepare routine digital and print materials using approved templates and basic design tools.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Robust attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, accessible, and high-quality work.
