This is a co-op position open only to students currently enrolled in the University of Waterloo’s Master of Taxation Program.

We are seeking Masters of Tax students from the University of Waterloo to join our Tax teams as Staff Accountants for their Winter and Fall 2027 work terms.

Positions are available in the following service lines. Please specify in your cover letter which group you are most interested in joining.

- Canadian Corporate Tax - Real Estate
- Canadian Corporate Tax - Asset Management
- Canadian Corporate Tax - Mining
- Private Enterprise - Family Office Cross Border Tax

What you will do

As a Staff Accountant in our Tax practice, you will be a member of KPMG client engagement teams providing a full scope of tax services including research of the Canadian tax issues and the implications of various transactions, preparation of Canadian corporate, trust, partnership and personal income tax returns, and audit of the tax provision for Canadian public or private reporting issues and preparation of tax provision working papers.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across geographies and industries to take on challenging and groundbreaking projects. From analyzing and assessing business processes to improving client performance, you’ll be building strong relationships with our people and developing professional skills that will help set you up for success.

Canadian Corporate Tax

Canadian companies operating in multiple jurisdictions must deal with numerous government authorities and frequent changes to tax laws and regulations. Canadian Corporate Tax professionals assist businesses in understanding how to effectively respond to these changes.

Real Estate

Our Real Estate Corporate Tax practice works closely with clients to help minimize federal and provincial corporate income taxes. We provide assistance in ensuring our clients are compliant with their income tax filing obligations and we are also pro-active in identifying and implementing income tax saving opportunities that help improve and make our clients’ businesses better. Through tailored tax planning advice, our tax teams help clients gain a competitive advantage.

Asset Management

Asset Management tax professionals will work across asset management: investment management, retail, mutual funds, private equity, hedge funds, alternative investments. Canadian companies operating in multiple jurisdictions must deal with numerous government authorities and frequent changes to tax laws and regulations. Canadian Corporate Tax professionals assist businesses in understanding how to effectively respond to these changes.

Mining

Mining Tax Group specializes in providing tax services to mining and mining royalty companies, from the smallest juniors to the senior operators with world-wide operations. We are growing and seeking a tax professional to join our team to provide our clients with exceptional service,



creative and quality advice and to help us continue to grow.

Private Enterprise - Family Office Cross Border Tax

KPMG Family Office Cross Border Tax practice assists high net worth individuals and their families with complex tax compliance and advisory issues across multiple jurisdictions, and in particular the US and Canada.

This role offers exceptional exposure to complex international tax matters, providing continuous opportunities to deepen your technical expertise while working alongside experienced professionals on challenging and rewarding engagements.

KPMG Ontario Region Pay Range Information The expected base salary range for this position is $50,000 to $75,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills& competencies, and unique qualifications.
