About the Position

We are seeking a dedicated, energetic, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Medical Laboratory Technician / Clinical Healthcare Assistant to join our healthcare team.

The successful candidate will support day-to-day clinical and laboratory activities, including phlebotomy, specimen collection and processing, TB testing, ECGs, vaccinations/injections, laboratory ordering, and patient support.

This position is ideal for an individual with healthcare or laboratory experience who is confident working directly with patients and healthcare professionals and who understands the importance of accuracy, safety, privacy, and compassionate patient care.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform venipuncture/phlebotomy and blood collection safely and efficiently while ensuring patient comfort.
- Collect, label, process, store, and prepare specimens according to established procedures.
- Perform or assist with TB testing and appropriate documentation.
- Assist with vaccinations and injections within the individual's authorized scope of practice and applicable workplace requirements.
- Perform ECGs accurately and prepare patients appropriately for testing.
- Order or coordinate laboratory testing and supplies, including working with external laboratories such as LifeLabs, where applicable.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory transportation and ensure proper specimen identification and tracking.
- Operate laboratory and diagnostic equipment as required.
- Review test information for completeness and identify potential discrepancies or errors.
- Maintain accurate patient records, laboratory documentation, and specimen-tracking information.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, workplace safety requirements, and quality-control protocols.




- Communicate professionally with physicians, nurses, laboratory personnel, patients, and other healthcare team members.
- Provide respectful, compassionate, and professional patient service at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy and healthcare requirements.
- Assist with general clinical and administrative duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a hospital, clinic, medical laboratory, healthcare, or diagnostic setting.
- Demonstrated experience with phlebotomy/blood collection.
- Experience or training in ECG/EKG procedures.
- Experience with TB testing.
- Experience with or knowledge of vaccinations and injections, within the individual's authorized scope of practice.
- Familiarity with laboratory specimen handling, processing, documentation, and transportation.
- Experience working with external laboratory providers such as LifeLabs is an asset.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation.
- Ability to operate or learn diagnostic and laboratory equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate results and documentation.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and courteous when interacting with patients.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to patient comfort and safety.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with healthcare professionals.

International Healthcare Experience International healthcare experience is welcome.



Candidates who have worked as a laboratory technician, medical laboratory professional, phlebotomist, nurse, healthcare assistant, or other clinical professional outside Canada are encouraged to apply, provided their education, training, and experience are appropriate for the duties of the position and any applicable Canadian requirements.
