: This position works as part of an interdisciplinary primary health care team. Under the direction of the Primary Health Care Manager, the Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health care services to the community.

The Nurse

Practitioner will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for clients in the community both independently and collaboratively with a physician, depending upon the complexity of client needs.

This includes: health promotion and protection; first line treatment and emergency services; provision of supportive counselling and instruction in management of medical conditions; disease and injury prevention; initiating and conducting community needs assessments and participating in evaluative projects; and collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals. This is a community-based position therefore the incumbent is required to work at a high level of independent clinical practice.

Human Resources Exemption: No

Experience

- 3 years experience as an RN in primary care, public health or acute care
- One year experience in community needs assessment/development/health promotion

Education

- Graduate from an approved School of Nursing

Licenses

- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Registered Nurse (RN)

Other Education and Training

- Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)
- Ability to maintain current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with CRNS




- Registered/eligible for registration with CRNS as a Nurse Practitioner (NP)

- Demonstrates capacity to plan, implement and evaluate multiple assessments
- Demonstrates empathy, trust and respect in the provision of care
- Demonstrates ability in verbal and non-verbal communication techniques
