Job Overview

We are seeking dedicated and skilled Online Course Graders to join our team. This position will primarily support the grading of Ontario secondary school courses in Sciences.

The ideal candidates will play an important role in supporting our online programs by reviewing and assessing student work, providing timely and constructive feedback, and consistently applying established rubrics, success criteria, and assessment guidelines. This role requires strong subject-area knowledge, excellent attention to detail, familiarity with Canvas (LMS), and the ability to assess student work fairly and consistently in an online learning workplace.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and grade student assignments, assessments, projects, and other course submissions through Canvas LMS.
- Apply established rubrics, success criteria, and assessment guidelines consistently and fairly.
- Provide clear, constructive, and timely written feedback to students.
- Ensure grading aligns with Ontario curriculum expectations and the principles outlined in Growing Success.
- Maintain accurate grading records and documentation within Canvas.
- Identify and flag incomplete work, academic integrity concerns, or significant gaps in student understanding for review by the course teacher or academic team.
- Communicate with course teachers and the academic team regarding grading questions or student progress.
- Meet established grading turnaround times and maintain consistency across student assessments.

Qualifications

- University degree in Education or a relevant teachable subject area.
- OCT (Ontario College of Teachers) certification preferred.




- Strong subject-area knowledge relevant to the courses being graded.
- Experience with assessment, grading, teaching, tutoring, or secondary education.
- Familiarity with Ontario curriculum expectations and Growing Success.
- Comfortable using Canvas or a similar Learning Management System.
- Strong written communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to apply grading criteria consistently.

Preferred Skills

- Previous experience teaching or grading Ontario secondary school courses.
- Experience using Canvas LMS.
- Familiarity with asynchronous or online education.
- Ability to provide meaningful, student-focused feedback while maintaining consistent academic standards.
- Experience assessing student work using rubrics and curriculum expectations.

Duties

- Grade assigned student submissions within established timelines.
- Review assignments against course expectations, rubrics, and success criteria.
- Enter grades and provide individualized written feedback through Canvas.
- Ensure assessments are evaluated accurately, fairly, and consistently.
- Monitor submissions for completeness and adherence to assignment requirements.
- Flag suspected plagiarism, inappropriate use of AI, or other academic integrity concerns for further review.
- Refer submissions requiring teacher intervention or academic support to the appropriate course teacher.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information, grades, and academic records.
- Participate in periodic grading calibration or training to ensure consistency across courses and graders.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
