This will be a job train position, learning to work within a prosthetics and orthotics facility on the manufacturing lab side of it. This is a healthcare related profession. An ideal candidate will be comfortable using a wide variety of tools and small machinery, have a creative mindset, and be comfortable working both independently, but also able to work in collaboration with existing technicians, and Orthotic/Prosthetic clinicians.

There is some lifting of up to 50lbs, but job is generally not too physically demanding, and most work is done within a temperature regulated, clean, bright, new lab space with plenty of windows. A technician is responsible for filling and stripping plaster casts, keeping track of inventory/ordering, heat forming materials at high temperatures under vacuum. Heat forming plastics over plaster molds, work with liquid lamination lay-ups, light metal bending, sewing of custom brace strapping, leather work and more.

Business hours are Monday to Thursday 9-4:30, 9-4pm on Fridays, closed all statutory holidays. We are somewhat flexible on days of the week and hours.

Looking for someone for 3-5 days/week, based on candidate preference. Options of paying into an extended medical plan for the right candidate available after 3 months. This job does have a training wage associated with it for the first year.

Starting at $23.00/hour, with wage and performance reviews every 3 months for the first year. Would expect a candidate to reach $27/hour within the first year, with possibility of some further wage advancements/perks over time, and as skills progress.
