We are looking for a highly motivated professional to contribute to the Recreation & Cultural Services Department.

Reporting to the Manager of Parks and Construction Projects this position is responsible for the planning, coordination, supervision, and continuous improvement of the Town's parks and park inspection/maintenance, grass cutting operations, turf maintenance, sports field maintenance, living asset programs, including urban forestry, arboriculture, horticulture, natural heritage assets, parks landscapes, boulevard and streetscape plantings, and related municipal asset management initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Schedules staff and supervises maintenance operations for parks, woodlots, open space, trails and streetscapes.
- Coordinates implementation of services-in-kind requests for community and special events held in parks including organizing set-up and take-down of fencing and barricades, deployment of garbage receptacles and picnic tables, portable washrooms, staging, and resident requests, etc. utilizing CityWide software.
- Oversees general/routine inspection and minor repair to parks vehicle fleet/equipment; arranges regular maintenance and major repairs to vehicles/equipment.
- Supervises assigned staff including scheduling of work, staff training/development, new-hire orientation, health & safety and other regulatory compliance, performance management/review, coaching/mentoring, collective agreement administration, time-sheet review and overtime/vacation authorization, payroll submissions, progressive discipline,



and termination recommendations.
- Regularly reviews and evaluates field operations and service delivery methods/processes with a view to benchmarking productivity, streamlining/updating practices, assuring compliance with standards/procedures and health & safety, and fostering excellence in customer service.
- Ensures that arboriculture and horticulture maintenance and planting programs are planned for an executed on an annual basis, complete with continuous improvement.
- Responds to enquiries from and/or liaises with the public, community groups, sports/user groups, and special event organizers.
- Responsible to monitor and control applicable operational and capital budgets
- Provides input to the Manager of Parks & Construction Projects in the development of parks maintenance and equipment standards, level of service standards, parks and user policies, and other similar guiding parameters for operation.

Key Competencies and Qualifications

- University degree in Recreation and Leisure Services, Forestry, Environmental Science, Urban Forestry, Landscape Architecture or related discipline.
- 5 years supervisory experience in municipal parks, urban forestry, horticulture, living asset management, and fleet management programs with preference given to those in a unionized environment.
- Professional certifications and designations considered an asset, including International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist or Certified Horticultural Technician (CHT), Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO) Qualified Designation,



Landscape Exterminator and/or Structural Exterminator Licence, and ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ).
- Thorough working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and sound safety practices in community recreational facility environments.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, time/project management, organizational, analytical, recordkeeping, work prioritization, problem-solving and staff leadership and supervisory skills.
- Ability to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies and the public.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check upon hire.

The position offers a salary range of $96,273 to $117,020 (2026 rates) based on a 40 hour workweek plus a competitive benefit package and an option for flexible work arrangements.
