POSITION TITLE: Part Time Custodian

SHIFT: evenings / weekends (approx. 15-20 hours per week or more)

LOCATION: Barrie, Ontario

Royal Canadian Legion Branch #147 is looking for a skilled and experienced Part Time Custodian to join our team in Barrie, Ontario.

About the Position: The Custodian is responsible for a mixture of routine duties and project work as assigned, scheduled by the Full Time Custodian and Branch Manager. The following proficiencies are required:

- General custodial duties:
- Sweeping/mopping floors/Dust and damp mops floors
- Cleaning railings, windows, etc.
- Cleaning washrooms, hall, rental room spaces
- Empty garbage and recycling bins
- Tearing down and setting up tables, chairs, etc for hall rentals
- Setting up / tearing down for events, dances and other groups
- Physical work of moving, setting up tables and chairs daily
- Project work may include;
- Painting/Repairing
- Running errands
- Putting up and taking down flags
- Maintain a high standard of overall look and feel of the building
- Must keep storage area, and equipment neat and orderly
- Maintain positive/respectful interactions with both team members and members, even in difficult situations
- Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching and stretching
- Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment
- Removes snow from sidewalks and areas surrounding front entrance and side entrances
- Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment
- Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of cleaning chemicals and products




- Ability to work independently and objectively with little or no supervision
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills, Detail oriented
- Ability to plan ahead and schedule work
- Other tasks as assigned

About You: The successful candidate(s) must be willing to learn, open-minded and adaptable, organized and detail oriented, team oriented, disciplined, and must have a positive attitude, along with the following qualifications:

- One (1) + years’ previous cleaning experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A valid Ontario Driver’s License
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends – approximate 15-20 hours per week as well as filling in when the full time custodian is away/vacation

This position is for the following shifts: Evenings and Saturdays – and fill in for full time custodian vacation and illness

At the beginning of the employment new hire will work early mornings to shadow the current full time custodian for training purposes.

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour to start with an employment review at 6 months.
