Tropical, a busy Latin restaurant and nightclub in downtown Calgary, is looking for a reliable and energetic Part-Time Line Cook to join our kitchen team.

The primary responsibility of this position is to manage a cooking station during service. Depending on the shift, the Line Cook will operate either the fryer station or the flat-top/grill station, prepare menu components accurately and ensure orders are completed on time.

Our kitchen lead handles most advance preparation and final plating. We need someone who can learn our menu, manage their station independently and remain organized during busy dinner and late-night service.

Responsibilities

- Operate the fryer or flat-top/grill station during service
- Cook menu components according to Tropical’s recipes and standards
- Follow order tickets and maintain proper cooking times
- Coordinate with the kitchen lead and other stations so all components are ready together
- Maintain quality, consistency and appropriate portion sizes
- Keep the station clean, organized and properly stocked throughout service
- Follow all food-safety and safe food-handling procedures
- Complete station setup, restocking, cleaning and closing duties
- Support the kitchen team as needed during busy periods

What we are looking for:




- Previous line-cooking or professional kitchen experience is preferred
- Comfortable operating a fryer and flat-top grill
- Able to work quickly, safely and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Strong sense of timing and ability to follow multiple orders
- Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Culinary education is an asset but is not required
- Food Safety certification is an asset
- Experience with Latin cuisine is an asset but is not required

Schedule:
- Part-time position
- Approximately 16–24 hours per week
- Approximately eight-hour shifts
- Regular availability required on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings
- Occasional Sunday shifts on long weekends
- Some shifts finish around 1:00 a.m.
- Reliable transportation after late-night shifts is required

Pay: $18.00-$24.60 per hour Expected hours: 24.0 – 30.0 per week
