About Brilliance Music Academy

Brilliance Music Academy (BMA) is a music school located in Richmond Hill, Ontario. For more than 15 years, we have provided music education to students and families in Canada and internationally.

Our programs include private instrumental lessons, Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) preparation, music theory, early childhood music education, and group learning opportunities. We work with students of different ages, levels, and learning goals in a supportive and professional environment.

About the Position

BMA is looking for a part-time violin instructor to join our faculty and take over an existing Wednesday teaching schedule. The position will begin with a small group of current students, with opportunities to build additional teaching hours through new inquiries and trial lessons.

The candidate must provide high-quality violin instruction, have experience in learning and teaching the RCM system, communicate effectively with students and families, and create an engaging learning experience that encourages students to continue their musical studies.

The candidate who is interested in developing additional programs are also welcome to propose recent ideas. BMA is open to collaborating on ensembles, chamber music, small-group classes, workshops, or other creative music programs based on the candidate's interests, expertise, and student demand.

Responsibilities

- Teach private violin lessons from beginner to advanced levels.
- Take over existing students and provide continuity in their learning.
- Plan lessons according to each student's age,



level, goals, and progress.
- Deliver engaging and well-structured trial lessons for prospective students.
- Build positive relationships with students and parents to support long-term learning.
- Prepare students for RCM examinations, festivals, competitions, auditions, and performances when appropriate.
- Communicate professionally with BMA staff and families regarding student progress, scheduling, and learning needs.
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Collaborate with BMA on additional programs, ensembles, workshops, or group classes if interested.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field, or an ARCT diploma in violin.
- Previous violin teaching experience.
- Solid violin performance and teaching skills.
- Ability to teach students of different ages and levels.
- Clear and organized teaching approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Able to teach in person at our Richmond Hill location (L4B 2N1).
- Regular Wednesday availability is required.
- Mandarin and/or Cantonese is an asset.




- Experience preparing students for RCM examinations is an asset.
- Experience teaching ensembles, chamber music, or group classes is an asset but not required.

Schedule

- Wednesday availability is required.
- The position will begin with an existing Wednesday student schedule.
- Additional students and teaching hours may become available through new inquiries and trial lessons.
- Additional weekday or weekend availability is an asset but not required.

Compensation $32.00–$35.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and teaching experience.

Additional performance-based bonuses are available for student achievements in RCM examinations, festivals, competitions, and auditions.

Selection Process

Selected candidates will be invited to an interview.

Shortlisted candidates will also be asked to complete a short teaching demonstration / trial lesson. This will allow us to learn more about the candidate's teaching style, communication, lesson structure, musicianship, and ability to engage students. Compensation will be provided for the teaching demonstration / trial lesson.

Education

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent advanced music qualification preferred

Experience

- Violin teaching: 1 year preferred

Pay: $32.00-$35.00 per hour Expected hours: 2.0 – 10.0 per week
