Our financial services client is seeking a Payments Technical Project Manager (10+ years) to lead payments technology delivery using ISO 20022 and payment processing platforms

Join a Global Markets team delivering complex payments technology initiatives within a banking setting. This role leads end-to-end project delivery across payment processing, systems integration, testing, operational readiness, and post-release stabilization. The position supports domestic, cross-border, real-time, and account-to-account payment capabilities while coordinating business, technology, operations, risk, compliance, and third-party teams.

The initial 12-month engagement has an expectation to extend.

Hybrid, 1-2 days per week in office - 150 King St. West, Toronto

Contract: 12 months (Posibility of extension)

Must Haves

- 10+ years delivering complex technology projects within financial services or payments environments
- Strong understanding of Agile, waterfall, and hybrid project delivery methodologies
- Delivery oversight across payment processing, systems integration, operational readiness, and post-release support
- Management of delivery risks, dependencies, governance, and senior stakeholder reporting
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant project or delivery qualification such as PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM, or Scrum certification

Nice to Have

- Experience with domestic or cross-border payments, clearing and settlement
- Knowledge of ISO 20022, SWIFT, real-time payments, payment gateways, or account-to-account payments
- Experience with fraud detection, sanctions screening, reconciliation, or payment investigations
- Exposure to cloud platforms, microservices, event-driven architecture, or modernization programs




- Experience working with major technology suppliers or payment processors

Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end delivery planning including scope, milestones, dependencies, resources, and budget
- Coordinate delivery across business, technology, operations, architecture, testing, security, and control functions
- Manage risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, and change control activities
- Lead projects involving payment processing, clearing and settlement, APIs, messaging, reconciliation, and operational tooling
- Define and manage testing activities including system integration, end-to-end, performance, resilience, security, and user acceptance testing
- Lead implementation planning including cutover, rollback, contingency arrangements, and post-implementation support
- Manage vendors and third-party dependencies including deliverables, milestones, risks, and commercial obligations
